Reviews for Allely House Restaurant

Dissapointing. My fathers steak was the smallest I've ever seen on a plate - certainly not worth the price we were being charged, and smaller than everyone elses at the table - which were already modest. To be fair food was tasty. Not sure if I wouldn't recommend.

Stopped in here last Friday evening to kill an hour or so before visiting a friend. Walked into a fantastically warm & cosy bar with roaring fire, beautifully polished flooring and candle light. Very grateful for the availability of this semi separate area to relax in. Ordered generous glass of red vino, delivered by very welcoming and friendly staff member. After getting very comfortable next to fire, realized the delightful music was actually a live duo, with double bass, and guitar accompanied by angelic female voice... Didn't have time to try the food, but had a good spy on meals travelling past to other guests, and it looked fantastic, especially the platters of mixed delights that would have been perfect with my glass of red. Extremely impressed, did not expect such a lovely "pop in" and looking forward to a return visit to properly sample the food and dining experience. Great example of an underpromise, and great over delivery.

I had a great night out at Allely House recently, the food was amazing and the staff very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is really what makes the place, the fire was roaring and the live music was perfectly suited for dinning and conversation. I look forward to getting back down there again in the near future.

To the team at Allely House, WELL DONE, if there were 6 stars to rate you on, you would get all 6. Erin and her team looked after us and then some. Our group of 45 Rotarians were served quickly and it ran like clockwork. The meals were superb, dessert superb and the entrees perfect. I hope we get a reason to partake in your food, wine and hospitality again soon.

1st of let me say, this restaurant so we've been told from the people who went with us to recent family birthday dinner that it has changed hands.
the birthday person has been before under old owners, so based on this he assumed a similar experience for us all that being great .
a total of 11 people went.
well basically his birthday was ruined. I have never experienced such poor food more so for what they are asking $30-35 mains, poor atmosphere as we were stuck in a barren empty room by ourselves (we thought we had the black plague or something), the service was average.
all in all if we hadn't had our entertainment cards to reduce the cost i/we would have been totally fuming.
the biggest issue though was the food, if I could have I would have called Gordon Ramsey on the restaurant's behalf to help them because thy need it. I have never posted comments on a restaurant before. thats how strongly I feel.

We went to the restaurant for lunch on Mother's day. It was our first visit and will be our last one too. The location looks great on the website however in reality it doesn't have too much decoration. Service was ok but the food was really disappointing for the prices we paid. We ordered fish of the day and the stuffed chicken. They were tasteless. We wondered if the chef had forgotten to add salt to it. My stuffed chicken was simply a pan-fried chicken without seasoning and there was no stuffing at all. We left straight after the meals because we were not very happy.
I posted a negative review previously due to an unsatisfactory dining experience. However I’d like to comment on the effort the restaurant owner has given to turn us into happier customers. We kindly received an invitation from him. We did not accept it as we are far from kumeu. But we indeed appreciate his understanding and we believe that he will make the business more successful.

Awesome service, Awesome Food - Cointreau and Chocolate Bread and Butter Pudding was lethal! Having heard rumours of the restaurant not being up to scratch, we thought we'd give it a chance anyway. So glad we did - My husband is not one to give compliments easily and even he was exceptionally enthusiastic with his praises. Well done.

Service was great. Very prompt & the food didn't take too long. Good sized portions. However, the ostrich was overcooked & bland. The lamb rack was supposed to be medium rare, to me it was closer to well done. Food was nice but not the best we've had.
There was a function on so everyone else was put into a side room (no problems there) but the noise was deafening. Could only just hear my boyfriend who was sitting across the table from me. Still not sure if we'll go back which is a shame cause it's a local for us.
