‘Andiamo, a leader in urban sophistication, is as good as ever’
Ewan McDonald, NZ Herald
~~
Andiamo is situated on vibrant Jervois Road within suburban Herne Bay, where this restaurant has established its reputation for fine food and an exceptional wine list. The kitchen sources the best seasonal produce to prepare and cook your meal in a modern bistro style, which highlights natural flavours of the food.
~~
Over almost 30 years of operation, Andiamo has received a number of awards, including Best Overall Wine List at the 2009 Metro Audi Restaurant of the Year Awards (and finalist in the Best Local Bistro category that year).
The team at Andiamo is proud to have been the Winner of the Laurent Perrier Outstanding Wine List Award at the Lewisham Awards; plus recipient of an Award of Excellence by the prestigious New York wine magazine, Wine Spectator – one of only a handful of NZ restaurants to have achieved such an award.
~~
The Italian word ‘Andiamo’ translates as “Lets Go”.
For evening dining, you’ll find inside, an enveloping intimacy featuring low lighting enhanced by flickering candles and good music. While a daytime freshness unfolds as Andiamo’s two rooms spill out onto the pavement terrace through huge bi-fold doors.
There is a New York style long-bar that offers an intimate yet lively space, with a wide choice of cocktails, craft beer and long drinks.
~~
Open all day, every day from at least 11.30am until late, Andiamo is also open for your brunching pleasure from 9am on Saturdays and Sundays.
~~
‘Andiamo is a place for grown ups and we welcome that’
Geraldine Johns, Sunday Star Times

Had lunch here again today…..always good….sat outside on a beautiful sunny day. Staff are all great, knowledgable and attentive.
Only downside, smokers at the outside tables…..wish restaurants would stand up to smokers and tell them to smoke elsewhere….

I loved Andiamo’s hearty and flavoursome mince on toast for lunch yesterday. Imbued with delicious flavours, the mince was generously heaped upon on two thick crusty rounds of toasted bread. Loads of shaved parmesan cheese, beautifully balanced by the spinach, tomatoes and other goodies hiding within the mince.
A delightful place, even if a little breezy/smokey if too near the front door when it’s open and smoking patrons are outside.
Very pleasant and helpful staff (who double-checked on the smoke-smell a second time after we’d showed concern about it earlier).
Fabulous value as well – at only $15 a pop for the mince on toast, it was excellent quantity of quality food!

Not the cheapest place to eat in Auckland however food is excellent. Hard to go past the pork belly or rack of lamb. Great wine selection and the service is top-notch.
Well worth a try.

Really enjoy coming here over the winter especially, now the menu has changed, portions seem to have downsized and there is less choice. Still a worthwhile restaurant though.

Had lunch and breakfast here a few times. It’s really good and you can see why it is a staple of the Herne Bay area. It’s always busy. That says volumes in itself.
The staff are well trained and looked after my wife and I with our new baby really well. I’d recommend it to anyone and it’s why it wins awards.
