We dined at The Attic a week ago and enjoyed a fantastic dining experience. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and I would highly recommend it and go there again when I come to Mission Bay.

Great food and great service. Had dinner here on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy which was good. We had the pork belly and the surf n turf which were cooked perfectly. For starters we had the flat bread and the prawns/scallops which were quite nice. The pork belly was tender but still had a bit of texture to it and not over cooked. The steak was cooked medium rare and was well seasoned. Dessert was also fantastic. Will definitely visit this place again!

Pretty average. I had the pulled pork sandwich. The pork couldn't be tasted as it was smothered in a ridiculous amount of bbq sauce. Not pleasant. My dining partner had the steak sandwich which was equally poor.

My friends took me for breakfast to this charming little place earlier this year. The food was great and the staff were extra friendly, especially the bartender. I had just turned 18 so he made me a special drink + recommend some places to go out that night.
It was really nice eating outside too, the sun hitting your skin while you watch the people walk back and forth from the beach.

First time I went to the Attic was on Monday night that they have this special deal for $20 ribs. The ribs were HUGE and came with chips and some salad on the side. One plate might be enough for 2 people.
Ribs were tender with good BBQ sauce. I really really like it. Highly recommend for anyone who love ribs for this good deal.
The place is in nice location and clean. If you go in daytime (in a good weather day) you can see the view and people watching on the balcony. The service was friendly. Definitely go back to try other dishes.
Ps. Ribs in photo here are not the deal portion. This is normal side.

We went to this place 2 weeks ago. We had a pork belly and the smoked salmon. The service was good despite of the delay sometimes and food was delicious. I will definitely get back again.

Another Zomato meet up, another night of good company and the privilege to try new food. This time was at Mission Bay's The Attic, self proclaimed "Auckland's number one gastropub". Arrogant? Perhaps not when there isn't much competition in the gastropub scene to begin with.
The interior was literally and figuratively warming with a fire place, and wood heavy tones. We were welcomed by the owner Ken, before we had our choice of main course. I'd been recommended the pork belly by a friend, but decided on the less ubiquitous surf and turf. The food came out promptly, and the service was consistent throughout the evening.
My steak stabbed with an extravagant skewer of prawns, sat on a bed of vegetables. It invited me to dig in. I did and met disappointment.
The steak was on the well done side of medium rare, despite me asking for it rare. I discovered a large chunk of inedible gristle. The meat was chewy.
The vegetables were rich and nourishing, especially the cheese topped mushrooms, but they failed to compliment the meat or seafood.
The 'surf' was boundlessly better. Succulent prawn with a tangy, spicy note. If the dish was only prawns, I would have been ecstatic. Instead it was a poor steak, mismatched vegetables and beautiful prawns.
Looking for a comforting, hearty dessert to finish, I ordered the apple and pear crumble. I dipped into the thinly layered, powdery crust and came up with bland apple and pear chunks. The dish desperately needed another dimension to excel, but there wasn't any. The creme brûlée of another diner was failingly spongey.
Thus the meal ended, my stomach and tongue unfulfilled. Mismatched surf and turf, forgettable dessert though pleasant service, warming interior and enlivening company.
Auckland's best gastropub? Perhaps. Regardless the Attic served a mediocre dinner, in plush surroundings. Stick around for the pub and pass on the grub.

Above pedestrian heads and over looking Auckland's shoreline is The Attic Bar & Restaurant.
Just five minutes out from city distractions, The Attic provides us with a space grab a cold beer on a summers afternoon or a hot meal in the middle of winter.
With an extensive menu, the Attic constructs a wicked pork belly with roasted butternut, a tantalising Surf and Turf dish with a creamy blue cheese sauce, and desserts that are the kryptonite for self-consious eaters.
Dinning is made easy with pre-matched wines to certain meals and the wine menu even goes as far to give us tasting notes for each glass.
This eatery is much more than another pub, it holds an elegance of fine dinning along with a casual approach to hospitality.
I would recommend finishing on their warmed Apple and Pear Crumble. With a sugary crumble on top and a scoop of honey fig ice cream to the side, dessert doesn't get much better in my opinion.

Was such a cold, grey, wet day that I almost 'passed' on going out - but I really couldn't waive a zomato meetup, as they have a knack of finding amazing little places and the company is always happy to talk food!!
As you climb the stairs you almost step into another world - tones of 'english pub' with a roaring fire on the far side of the room - was utterly perfect for how I was feeling. Able to shed my wet coat and check out the beer choice at the bar, while I caught up with the restaurant gossip from other food lovers.
We were welcomed by Ken - who was really engaged in welcoming us, and to show us his menu - while we were to individually choose - he suggested that we all try something different from our neighbour, so that we could see what the whole menu looked like - this caused a lot of conversation between us. (if you are ever in need of a conversation starter - this is the way to go!!!)
My neighbour had an Amazing 'Vegetable Heaven" literally a stack of Aubergine, courgette, red onion, mushroom, tomato, halloumi and ricotta (photo number 1 if you need any further convincing - and yes FOMO ).
'Pork Belly' - twice cooked with roasted butternut, broccolini, sweet pear, and pistachio, jus.
Everyone that ordered the 'Surf and Turf" was raving - I think the blue cheese sauce won them over, anyway - chilli garlic prawns, portobello mushrooms, and creamed baby spinach with a choice of sauce - blue cheese (this won the accolades) pepper jus, mushroom diane or béarnaise ....
Desserts were equally good - Orange Creme Brûlée, Apple Crumble with Feijoa, Chocolate Pudding...
This is a great spot for a whole hearted meal or a pint by a warm fire.

Great night with great people. Went to The Attic on Tuesday night for a Zomato Foodie Meet up. Atmosphere was very nice, and they played good music too. Staff was really nice and helpful, made us feel very welcomed and made sure to explain us everything about the food and the place.
For dinner, I went for the Fish of the day, Tuna! It was served with risotto balls and wasabi mayo - amazing! Would definitely recommend and eat again. For dessert
I went for the Orange Creme Brûlée - great taste. I also had some of the Chocolate Pudding with Ice cream and Apple and Pear crumble which was also amazing, I would probably go for the crumble next time!
Overall it was a great experience and great place, will definitely go back! Highly recommend!

We went there last night after seeing this place on first table. What a great experience it was....fabulous views, the staff were attentive and the food was divine.
We started off with bubbles + shared entrees of the scallops + prawns and the asian spring rolls....we were wowed! Both were amazing, full of flavour and fresh.
My friend then had the prawn scallop and salmon risotto and I had the chicken breast with kumara mash.....we were both in heaven!! What a great way to celebrate the "eve" of the weekend - we will be back again :-)

One of the perks of being active on zomato is the zomato foodie meet up. You can meet and discuss about what you like -food, cuisines, restaurants etc.
So I was invited to zomatos foodie meet up to Aucklands number one gastropub (that's the tag line of this pub)
We were welcomed by Ken who is the owner too. He explained the menu and he was very keen on all 11 foodies try different items. I went for surf n turf. For me it was either FOTD or surf n turf. But opted for surf n turf as I could try both meat and seafood. Ken recommended the matching wine too. The dish was well presented. My choice of blue cheese dressing was well appreciated by the other foodies who tried my dish. The meat portion was very filling. Mushrooms complimented well with the whole dish.
As desert I went for Apple and Pear crumble with Fig ice cream. I enjoyed every bit of that too.
Thanks a lot to the wait staff who provided us with some really good service.
Verdict: will be back
Must try : Surf n turf, orange creme Brule, Apple crumble with Feijoa

Amazing night with amazing people in a wonderful restaurant. If it wasn't for a Zomato meeetup I maybe would think twice about coming here.
The food was great and the service was topnotch. As foodies arrived, we were greeted by the owner, Ken. Since i arrived quite early, I was told if i wanted to wait by the bar and have drinks. I ordered a Corona from the bartender and he was really nice and friendly.
As, we sat down at our table, we were taken care of by Ken and one of his wait staff. He informed us of the fish-otd and any other information we needed in regard to dining. My eye fillet with chorizo and cheese croquets were divine and the blue cheese sauce is to die for. The lemon cheesecake dessert was amazing. The atmosphere was great with people chattering about in the background. And the decor was amazing with vintage looking wallpapers and encyclopaedias on shelves. Makes you think you were at your own attic!
What i love about this restaurant/gastropub is the fact that they have matching wine lists listed with the mains. If not too fond of what is written, Ken could always help you out.
Overall, would definitely come back here to try the other dishes and I highly recommend this place.

* Location -> The Attic Bar is located in the heart of Mission Bay, awesome view and a really easy access.
* Ambient -> I felt really comfortable with the atmosphere of a Gastropub. You can easily tell that they have good drinksThaisa Esmitiz,Romeo Miguel Manlangit Chris FeatonbybSarah ForsythuFrankt they focus in the quality of the food!
* Crew -> I felt that i were more than welcome and this is how they treat everyone! They are really nice and patient! Awesome Crew!!
* Meal -> Since I'm a big fan of steak i had the Eye Fillet with mushroom sauce. It was delicious!! But honestly, i tried the Blue Cheese from a different meal and i think that Blue Cheese sauce would fit even better with the Eye Fillet!!!
* Dessert -> I had the Chocolate Pudding with Vanilla ice cream. It is good, but i tried the Apple Crumble, the Cheesecake and the Creme Brûlée, in my opinion, between these 4, i rather have Apple Crumble for dessert which is Amazing!
*Resume -> It is a fantastic place and i will definitely go back! I highly recommend!
A big Thanks to the Zomato Crew!

Was invited here as part of a Zomato Meetup. Ken the owner was very hospitable and professional and definite compliments to our friendly waitress Zara who brought out our dishes with aplomb.
The restaurant is tucked away somewhat but when you get upstairs it is open and roomy so can accommodate a large number of people nicely. We had a long table with about eleven people (all fellow unqualified diners) so managed to sample a good cross section of their mains and desserts.
The mains were the definite highlights, and my medium rare tuna with risotto balls and wasabi mayo was sensational. I tried the eye fillet as well, super tender, and the other dishes i saw all had impeccable presentation. My matching wines were competently chosen by Ken.
It's the sort of restaurant I normally overlook since I prefer something with a bit more of an exotic flavour, but if you are in the market for a traditional pub dinner experience you can't go wrong! #zomatomeetup

I had my 21st party at The Attic and it went off without a hitch! It was such a great venue and everybody was really accommodating. I had about 90 people, and the place was easily big enough. Ken the manager helped us to get the right amount of food for the night, and the pork belly canapes are super tasty. They also have Guinness on tap which is something that calls to me.
All of the staff were great, and they helped to make my night easy. There was the odd spilt drink that was cleaned up in a flash and it made our dancing (of which there was a lot) much more enjoyable.
Thanks to the whole team who worked on the night, I had a fantastic time and I would highly recommend the venue for party use!

These guys do service and ambience well.
Reminiscent of a genuine attic with eclectic decor inclusive of old encyclopaedias, the Attic has a warm homely vibe. Food is good, not amazing, but not average.
I once had the best ceviche I've ever tasted here, then ordered it on 2 more occasions only to be let down twice.
Suggest the rib night - great ribs cooked to perfection, at a great price.
Will still go back time and time again. Service is fabulous and they have a good wine list in a cozy environment with a top view!

I came here for my 21st birthday dinner! Despite having a party of about fourteen people, The Attic were able to accommodate to my needs. I had a bit of trouble booking however; my requests that we would be eating dinner here was misunderstood by the person I was speaking to, who only thought we would be coming for drinks and nibbles. I therefore got a call on the day of my birthday about my seating arrangements, but I was able to get these modified so we were able to sit and eat comfortably on the night! The second person I spoke to seemed a tad annoyed on the phone and hung up on me though.
When we got to The Attic on the night though, we had a really good experience here! The staff were friendly and made sure we were catered for. I ordered the duck main meal, but it was a little bit too salty for my liking. Everyone else enjoyed their food though which was good! We ordered quite the lot between us; we had steak, ribs (the ribs looked amazing!), a meat platter, risotto and a few more I couldn't get photos of. My cocktail here was also very nice!
Overall, I had a lovely time here! The staff took group photos for us in the end, and let us do split payments which was very helpful for us and a little inconvenient for them! Thanks for a good night Attic! I will be back :)

Booked this place for me and a friend on firsttable.co.nz which gives you half price on everything you order. I only got told about it last week and have been so keen to try the restaurants they work with.
The Attic is situated upstairs the busiest part of Mission Bay. It was too cold to sit on the balcony, but I am definitely going back in Summer to sit outside. The wait staff were very friendly and we fully enjoyed our food.

Fantastic place for a quiet drink and some decent food. Great service, brilliant atmosphere and menu. Had the bruschetta, olives and squid. Also had the creme brulee for dessert - very decadent and sweet, perfect! All excellent, especially the squid. Will be back, can see this becoming a regular haunt!

I organised my husband's surprise 30th party to be at The Attic. The staff were all incredibly friendly and professional. The chef came up with a canapé menu specifically for my function and it was all absolutely divine! The waiters and waitresses served the canapés throughout the evening. The lounge area is a perfect setting for a function, it has a T.V in which you can use an HDMI cable to plug a laptop in and display pictures etc. I absolutely loved having the function at The Attic, and I highly recommend their services! I will definitely be going back for an evening meal with my husband. If the canapés were mouth-watering ... their main meals will surely blow me away :D

A nice cafe. Love the decor. Good and friendly service. Tried the jalapeno beef burgers. It was a lot nicer than we thot. Just the right amount of jalapeno. Burger came with crispy bacons in a sesame seeds toasted buns. Even the chips were nice. We also had orange creme brulee, chesecakes and apple crumble for dessert. The creme brûlée was a hit!!!!! A total yummy! I will definitely go back for the creme brûlée. Too bad we forgot to take pics.

Good. But not blown away.
Went to The Attic for Valentine's Day and the food was pretty average.
We ordered the kumara chips and chicken "wings" for starters. The kumara chips were lovely and thick and came with sweet chilli and Aoli dipping sauce. The chicken was very flavoursome but for the price, we did not expect tiny chicken nibbles whereas the menu stated wings.
For the main I had the lamb shank and my date had the pork belly. Unfortunately we were both a bit disappointed.
Whilst the sauces and the sides were very delicious the meat seemed to be lacking flavour in particular the lamb shank was a bit tough and was being out done by the very tasty mash.
Portion sizes were very good for the mains, we were too full to even consider dessert.
Service was prompt and accomodating.
Not sure whether we will visit again.

The food was great! Writing this review again as the first time it didn't work for some reason. Chicken was excellent so was the cow moo! Shrimp was good aswell. For deserts since they were out of the chocolate we went for chocolate moose and creme Brule (I think that's how u spell it lol) the fries were very good too. Good service all round and good food makes for a nice dinner for 2. Oh and the bramble was Gr8 too didn't think the bottle was gna b the big though haha Christina Kani

Had the pleasure of experiencing their wears, service from the bro was primo, my glass was full, both my boy and girl were happy and the food was promptly served seasoned well and cooked to perfection.
The only downside to the experience was the smokers contaminating the air inside, not a major issue for me but didn't impress the family much. All in all 9 out of 10
Would definitely return!

Super muggy afternoon and we were craving a Corona or two after walking the bays, so thought we would check the Attic out...well they were out of Corona's (had a big run on them yesterday apparently), but the Kirin's went down just as well. Had read about the ribs and they are a "special" on Mondays so we each had a plate, delicious and filling and good value for $20...service was friendly and the late afternoon/early evening vibe was good, I can see us visiting here more often through summer.

Held my 21st birthday here with 40 guests in their lounge, and had an absolute blast. I'm vegan and they were so accommodating in creating a whole vegan menu for my event which included delicious rice paper rolls, vegetable kebabs, and the best potato and kumara fries ever! All my guests commented on the food, it was that good! Our server Hohepa, and the event liason Penelope made sure everything was taken care of so that I could enjoy my night. They were incredibly professional and I really appreciate the length they went to to make my night everything I wanted it to be.

I was served by Hohepa. It was the last day together with my friend from Europe. This was the best restaurant I've eaten at so far, during our travels around New Zealand. I am living in Auckland but have never experienced the level of customer service. that I received from Hohepa. He had very good food suggestions, was engaging and all around a good waiter. For starters, we had the Parmesan - Pesto Balls, my friend is vegetarian and had the veggie pasta and I had the massive selection of Ribs. It was the first time I couldn't finish ribs. The ribs were cooked to perfection!
I will definitely be bringing more people back but will make sure that I request Hohepa! Thanks for a great last night. 10 stars in my opinion.

I've been to The Attic on several occasions but celebrated my 21st there recently which was definitely the best of my experiences there. Not only were the staff and service great on the night but in the months leading up, the manager was more than helpful in our planning and organisation of the event. The Attic is such a great venue and my friends, family along with myself are sure to return many more times in the future. Highly recommend.

We went here for a friends birthday with a light dinner and drinks. Great drinks selection at reasonable prices. We started we bar snacks; fries, calamari, kumara chips and everything was delish and well seasoned. One from our party had pork belly which received rave reviews and the ribs went down a treat. A couple of us finished with desserts, the chocolate pudding and mousse. both were very yummy and generous servings. Staff were nice enough but could have cleared our plates quicker. Some music would have gone down well too

Our group of five had dinner here on a Saturday night. Wonderful ambiance and our drink and meal orders were taken promptly, with drinks coming out not long after.
However, after we ordered we found ourselves waiting for 5 main meals for about 1 hour 20 minutes.
A second round of drinks (for a group of modest drinkers) had been finished before we saw the first meal.
Completely understandable that Saturday nights are often the busiest for a restaurant and The Attic was reasonably busy, but we felt that this was too long to wait. With an exploding Auckland dining scene, it's very rare to wait that amount of time for a main meal.
LUCKILY the food was absolutely delicious and ended up being worth the wait (helped that we were starving). Would definitely eat here again but would hope next time the waiting time improves.
Still my favourite in Mission Bay with a solid menu.

My husband and i came in for dinner last night (Tuesday) and were extremely impressed! I had the fish special which was an absolute steal for only $20 considering it was truly a first class dish. Delicious wines were recommended to accompany our meals by our charming young waitress who had excellent knowledge of the entire menu. Will be returning to try more!

My wife and I met up with my sister and her partner and child at the Attic on Sun. 29th at 3.00 pm, 2 other people in the restaurant and it took 20 mins to get a beer and 3 wines to our table. Ordered a bowl of fries as a starter and was told by the waitress that they probably couldn't do fries without rosemary dusting, got that sorted and had another bowl with the rosemary dusting, both very nice. Then ordered wings and Bruschetta, also great, again service slow, went to order desserts and told 4 of the 6 choices were not available. To add insult to injury the hand dryer in the mens toilet not working and a steak meal that was not ordered added to the bill, told the waitress was new and learning but would have thought that with 6 people in the place things would have been better. Once again, nothing wrong with food but service fell well below the claim of best Gastro pub in Auckland.

Found this place at random, and ventured in and turned out to be a very good choice. Staff very attentive and welcoming. Found a table outside. Tended to quickly and our meals arrived promptly. Friendly service maintained. Food was delicious. The wedges were fantastic and, although the calamari appeared to be a small serving, was in actual fact more than enough, very fresh, tasty and the waiter listened to our request with no dressings/sauces. The pizza we also asked for was sensational. Top marks to Attic. Friendly service makes a huge difference these days. And to have tasty yummy food is double the treat. Prices are fairly much on par with most establishments, but reward yourselves and visit Attic.

we had a 21st birthday party of my friend at the attic on 21st june 2014 and to be Honest it was one of the amazing time we all had thanks to the attic. The manager Penelope she is really talented and knows what she does. She got really great ideas about the menu and setting up the restaurant for different occasions. Being in hospitality industry for nearly 4 years I observed that this restaurant has something special to serve and its all about the people who are working and running the business. Food was exceptional and moreover the presentation.
There is no other place I can think of to go for lunch or dinner when i am around at mission bay. The atmosphere that we had at The Attic just enhanced the flavour of my friends 21st.
Thank you The Attic from me & charlotte . You guys are awesome
Thanks & regards

The Attic Restaurant is the perfect dining destination for anyone who enjoys great food and beverage located in the heart of Mission Bay.
Our waiter who served us right through the afternoon his name is Hohepa was fantastic. He demonstrated excellent customer service while building rapport with all us guests made our experience very warm and welcoming.
Food is amazing from the wide selection displayed on the menu. Prices and food portion sizes are just right. I highly recommend their seafood platter, the best we have ever tried its just sensational.
We have dined here many times and enjoy the friendly service and wonderful food. Keep up the good work.
Many thanks to The Attic Team

Excellent variety of beers, including German.
We had the platter to share: Red Wine Platter.
It was all good and tasty but way too expensive for the size and quantity of meats.
Good for 2 people, not for 4 as advised.
Generally nice place, cosy and situated in beautiful area.

Have always wanted to go to The Attic, and last night my boyfriend and I decided to try it.
Firstly, the restaurant setting is lovely - warm and cosy with the fire nearby.
We were promptly greeted, and seated by a waiter.
I was hesitant when I see the dinner main prices as it was more expensive than I had expected. But I can say that they were worth the price tag - I had the chicken with lemon sauce (which was perfectly seasoned) and my boyfriend had the fish of the day which looked delicious as well.
The portions were a great sizing also; this is important to me when meals are a bit more on the expensive side.
My one criticism would be that the food took 40+ minutes to arrive, but as it was busy and a Saturday night I can understand that. Also great waiter made the difference - he checked on us to let us know how far away our meals were, and during to see how we were finding them.
I live in the Bays and this is by far the best restaurant around! Cannot wait to return and try other items on the menu.
Go - you will not be disappointed!

Great food & great service. Hang out with your other half or a group on the deck with a drink or 5 from their extensive wine & beer list during the warmer weather overlooking the views of Mission bay or enjoy a few dishes from their delectable menu! This place is certainly very inviting. We'll definitely be returning!

AAAAA+ service, fantastic staff, great ambiance, sumptuous food and affordable. We were considering a few options for a birthday function but got so impressed with the general manager who was very patient in answering all our queries. So we booked and were given a good deal. Pork ribs is divine. The celebrant and all the guests had a wonderful night! Look nowhere else if you are thinking of having a special evening.

What a fabulous evening! Great food, great service and great company - The Attic supplied 2 out of 3! The pork belly was perfect - melt in the mouth tender and delicious, and the pear and almond tart with ice cream was equally wonderful. I definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be back - perhaps even to sample some of the whiskeys...

Liked everything about this place! Clean, inviting atmosphere. Welcoming and polite staff. Quick service, the tapas sized dishes were all nice, we've had better but we have also had a lot lot worse, extensive menu of both food and drinks, we will be back to try more!

Held a significant birthday party here just after Christmas and had a wonderful time. Right from the planning stage, Penelope was thoughtful and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. On the night, Penelope greeted us and introduced us to our waitress who gave top-class service. The food was wonderful, and came out in a very timely manner. Penelope and her staff went out of their way to make this a very special evening for us all. I can totally recommend the Attic for good food, service and a great time, and especially recommend Penelope and her staff if you are looking for a special night or function.

This used to be one of our favourite restaurants, however, since changing ownership about 3 months ago it has unfortunately slipped to the bottom of our list. We drove to mission bay especially to come and eat here and upon arrival we were told the wait for food would be around 45mins-1hour. They were very busy with a large table so the wait was understandable and we were happy to wait and enjoy a drink beforehand. Our meals finally arrived after an hour and as we began to eat we were extremely disappointed. My partner's pork belly was the toughest piece of pork we have ever tasted, having to chew each mouthful for about 5 minutes. The potato gratin that accompanied my fish appeared to have been made at lunch time having been kept warm the entire time - I could hardly cut into it without it flying off the plate. After not touching the rest of the pork belly after 2 bites, when my partner complained to the duty manager they came back with a solution of offering two complementary desserts. In my opinion this is completely unsatisfactory. In the end it was agreed that another meal be made for him and they also offered us complementary coffee. Unfortunately we will not be coming back here, solely due to how the complaint was handled and the service. Obviously there will be large groups due to Christmas, however restaurants should then not accept smaller tables if the service and attitude toward them is going to deteriorate.

We held our staff Christmas party here last Friday night and were very impressed with the quality of the service and the delicious food, Penelope and her staff worked very hard all night to ensure that our 64 guests were wined and dined in style. Thank you "Attic Team" for making our party a memorable one.

I was at The Attic last Friday night for an Xmas function, our group took up pretty much most of the restaurant. After dinner we spread out throughout the bar and continued drinking.
I have never in my life received such impeccable service by two of your waiter(esses) there. Maddy and Hohepa were outstanding throughout the evening, always asking for extra drinks, knowledgeable about their beers, wines and spirits, up selling seemed like second nature to them and a smile topped everything off. I tipped these two personally on the evening, told them how much more enjoyable they had made our evening. Coming from a bar manager myself, its easy to say these two are both, and asset to your establishment.

We held our staff Christmas function at The Attic yesterday and it was a great success. We had a very large group of 70 people and were extremely well looked after by Penelope and her team. The atmosphere was fantastic, the staff were so professional and accommodating, and the food was great. I have been to The Attic a number of times personally and have always been impressed by the service - now having held a large function there I am even more impressed! The Attic is a fantastic asset to Mission Bay!

We had a large family group including children and teenagers including a family from the United States travelling on a budget. The overall impression of the food was that it is outstanding - every single dish even the kids meals is beautifully cooked and really delicious. The wine list is impressive, the staff were friendly, patient and knowledgeable - all in all a fantastic experience.
The only thing which spoiled our meal was the fact that people were sitting on the balcony smoking and with the doors open it meant that the smoke blew back into the restaurant which was very unpleasant at times.

Just held my sister's hens night at The Attic (in the lounge area) and it was an amazing night! They even delegated a great waiter, Yan, to look after the 40 of us ladies for the night. A great atmosphere and yummy food and drinks. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great venue with all of the extras mentioned above. Go have some fun!

My partner and I have eaten at the attic many times and I thought it was time I wrote a review. We keep going back as we love the relaxed atmosphere and the food is consistantly great. The staff are very friendly and always helpful and welcoming. It is a great spot on the balcony to watch the goings on of Mission Bay without being on that awe fully busy side walk. Looking forward to getting back as they tell me they are changing the menu and the wine list.

Had birthday drinks tonight to celebrate my husbands birthday and it was perfect. Wonderful atmosphere and ambience, fantastic service, delicious platters and tapas. Would absolutely recommend and will definitely be back.
Big thumbs up - thank you to the team for making it such a wonderful evening, cant wait to come back!!!!

As always the service was very friendly, attentive and relaxed (in a professional relaxed way :) ) Often it is just 2 or 4 of us going for a drink, bite or full meal but this time there was 16 of us so I wanted to write and thank everyone at the Attic. It was my idea to take everyone to my favorite place and the service and food lived up to expectation :) Thanks

Four of us had a wonderful time for dinner. Service, atmosphere, food all great. Will be back, indeed joined loyalty club! Casual, good location. Up high so day time views over gulf should be an added bonus as is having the bar area for pre dinner meet up! Would recommend.

You do wonder sometimes if restaurants that get rave reviews by everyone really will live up to your expectations. The expectations were high and we were not disappointed. Six out of five! The atmosphere is lovely and unpretentious, warm welcoming surrounds. From the ambiance, to the service (including the hostess/manager coming around to talk to every table) to the food – everything was perfect. I wanted to lick the plate clean, the Lamb Shank was simply superb!
Will be back- very soon

The Attic is without a shadow of a doubt the best place to go in the bays for brunch, lunch, dinner or just a few beers. I'm a local & have been going to this place since opening & I can honestly say it just gets better!
Brunch is great & the views of the beach are not bad either.
Lunch - great snacks menu - I think they call them snattics!
Dinner - A great new menu & ate there on Sunday night with a group of friends. The 4 of us were all very complimentary of the quality of the food.
A few beers (wine for the chicks) - A great social hang out with a good crowd from the bays - I think I spent most of the Rugby world cup in the lounge & the big screen when I was not at Eden park.
The staff are excellent and very attentive - you don't even have to keep going to the bar - table service.
Many people have commented on Penelope on previous reviews - yep she is awesome!
A great local for me & would recommend to anyone.

I had a client fly in at 2pm and then back out to Canada – That afternoon. Penelope opened early just for us. Talk about above and beyond. It didn’t stop there, We were well looked after, making sure our needs were covered.
The food was exceptional. Clients were very impressed with the whole atmosphere, food and the service. Thank you Penelope, I will definitely be returning to the Attic, and will not hesitate to refer your venue to other colleagues.

We recently held a 60th birthday party for my mother at The Attic and Penelope and her team certainly looked after us. They accommodated all our needs around decorating and setting up the function area they have. During the evening we were well look after with the waiting staff ensuring everyone had a drink in their hands and the food we ordered was brought out in a timely manner and was staggered nicely though out the evening. This is the second 60th we have held at The Attic and both occasions have been great events. The Attic provides a great venue, great service and the food for both functions has been top notch. I would highly recommend using them for a function or simply pop down for lunch or dinner, the food is great.

Thank you The Attic for the nice Sunday afternoon!!!
I wanted to take my family out for a special family lunch last Sunday, so I booked a table in The Attic.
It was a quite busy Sunday there, but Service was still really friendly and helpful
Heaps of us just loved the Salt and pepper squid and the special dips on the tasting plate but what was even better was the eggs benedict! Just perfectly consistance and so many different choices! Nearly all of us took the avocado or salmon ones.
Even though we were a quite big group, we got all our meals at the same time.
Our kids got a really cute pictures to colour in and some special kids nuggets. They said and looked like they liked it :)
I would definitely come again!
But next time I"ll just bring a friend so we can sit in the sun on the nice sun-decks :)

Last night I took a group of 20 single people to The Attic in Mission Bay. We were greeted on arrival by Penelope the manageress who made us very welcome. We had a mix and mingle table set up, plus a lovely table beautifully laid out. The food and service was excellent. During the evening the waitress was also very attentive and polite. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending The Attic. Especially for large groups such as mine. However I am sure if you were just a couple or by yourself the result would be the same. Well done The Attic. Dee King

Last night i celebrated my Birthday at "The Attic" with a small group of 13 friends. The overall experience was superb! The staff are very friendly and easy to approach. The food what can i say not only did it look fantastic it tasted AMAZING! I had the Pork Belly - which is by far the best pork belly i have had. My partner always gets the Steak which he said was so fresh and cooked perfectly. Monday nights special is 1kg of ribs for $20 which many of my guests opted for and were very impressed. Over all the portions are great, the quality is unbeatable. I highly would recommend "The Attic Restaurant" to any one. Thank you to the Team for making my birthday Special.

My fiancée and I dined at The Attic last Thursday evening to mark our anniversary. The whole experience was outstanding. It was quite a cold evening and to be dining next to an open fire was lovely. The food was exceptional and portion size spot on. Our waitress was excellent; she was friendly, professional and had excellent knowledge of the menu, and wine matching. This is the first time I have ever bothered to write a review, and am doing so because of the excellent experience we both had. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

My wife Jane and I arrived on Sunday afternoon when it was wild and wet and immediately felt at home with its first floor location and warm atmosphere with its glowing open fire.
We enjoyed the chef's tapas selection, an excellent bottle of viognier, followed by a scallop and prawn cocktail. Excellent service from the attractive and outgoing manager.

Outstanding! The only way to describe The Attic.
Had an absolutely fantastic time for my friends birthday celebration and nothing was too much. A little hiccup with a food order but it was all very quickly remedied and through dinner we couldn't stop raving about how flavoursome and delicious our food was. The waitress charmed us all with her irish humour and made everyone's night! I will definitely be back as this place delivers on atmosphere, service and exceptional food
Well done and see you again soon :)

This place has me sold! From the first mouthful to the last, the food was divine. We especially liked the prawn and scallop cocktail for entrée, beautifully cooked and seasoned. For the main, I had the lamb loin, and I have to say it was the best lamb I have ever tasted!
The service was outstanding, polite and charming; I could not fault a thing!
Thanks The Attic for a fantastic night. You have a winning combination and definitely offer something especial!!

The Attic is such a fantastic place to dine! I celebrated my graduation lunch here on 6th May. It's important to note that their business officially opens at 4pm but they welcomed my family and I at 2 pm (I emailed to book of course!)! Not only that, they also allowed us to order from their dinner menu. We were treated very well, which made the day even more special. So when it comes to service, you can't fault them- very hospitable and professional.
The food is also fantastic! Each of us ordered different mains and we all loved it! The pork belly was perfectly cooked as well as the steak and the lamb rump. The risotto was perfect - it wasn't too creamy and it had generous amount of seafood in it. The ribs were amazing! Their honey creme brulee is one of the best I've tried! The triple chocolate mousse was divine. And how can I forget the salt & pepper squid!
Thank you so much for the great experience The Attic! Will definitely be back and I've already raved your restaurant to my friends.

The Attic proved to be an amazing venue for a function I helped organise for 80-90 people last night. They were meticulously organised, friendly, professional and genuinely excited to be of assistance. Thanks to all the bar staff and the function manager, Penelope, for helping us put on an awesome event!

After looking through the menu mania for a restaurant that had good reviews at a decent price I stumbled across The Attic.
I rang and was greeted with a friendly voice who was willing to help me. I explained that I was taking my husband out for our 4yr wedding anniversary and he had no idea. She suggested giving us a nice quiet corner of the restaurant.
Due to traffic I was late getting home and rang to apologise being late, that was no problem, just get here when you can was the response!!
When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady who was either the Maitre D or the owner (not sure) she took care of us the entire evening, and that made us feel special. There was even a big group in but we did not complain as our food arrived in a decent time (normally when there are big groups, us small tables get left behind, but not in this instance)
We started with a shared entree of Grilled Sour Dough, Fig Chutney and a Homemade Herb Feta ~ DELICIOUS!!!
For dinner my husband had the Crispy Thai Beef Salad, I had a sneaky bite ~ oh so good!!
But my favourite part was my dinner House Smoked Salmon, Prawn and Scallop Risotto.
The service was exceptional, the food was divine and we will be going back!!
Thanks to The Attic for making our special day that extra special ~ much appreciated!!

Simply... WOW!!! We just came back, and I have to give the thumbs up to the team. Top quality meals, the presentation could not get any better, very well presented, and big portions, its worth every penny! I had the sirloin steak and my partner raved about his pork belly! Deliciously good! I had to come here and spread the word out because this guys truly deserve it! Special thanks to the waitress who provided an excellent customer service, very attentive and polite. Keep it up guys!

My hubby and I wanted a simple night out and thought we’d give The Attic a go… what a delight. We seated on the balcony and the location could hardly be better. The staff are friendly, courteous and nothing is a problem. They go the extra mile, and on top of that the food is simply divine. Mini lamb burgers are just too cute to be true!!
All in all a fabulous evening, we couldn’t fault a thing.
Well feed and well looked after, would definitely come back…

We all like to escape, it's human nature after all. There is something captivating and mysterious about a home away from home. But why can't we find it right in the heart of a bustling city?
Well now you can! Imagine if you will an ambience that speaks of a thousand stories. A sumptuous array of delectable delicacies and a captivating view that inspires even the quietest of wordsmiths.
Throw in some quite exceptional service and you have the home away from home you have always wanted. Where is it, just east of the city centre in a majestic part of Auckland we like to call Mission Bay.
Come on people, to feel is to find within! It’s easy for someone to picture themselves there but you need to see everything for yourself to be truly mesmerised. I'm speaking on behalf of myself and my fiancé when I say our engagement party just wouldn't have been the success it was if we had it anywhere other than The Attic.
Nestled above Momma Mia's, another well-established Auckland icon, The Attic boasts a distinctive wine list for even the most discerning of aficionados and connoisseurs. Not to mention the veritable plethora of other beverage options and of course, the very famous sharing platters, which I'm told, bring people from near and far.
Put all of this aside for a second and think carefully about something that I think is seriously missing from the best bars in our amazing country. Service…….it might be a single word but it means everything to the people it serves both literally and figuratively. I can guarantee you of one thing when you come to The Attic – the service is second-to-none. In fact, I challenge you to find better service and if you do…….make me eat my words!
There is an experience that should be attached to the best memories in life and that is exactly what you will get when you choose to have your next function, work party or catch up with friends at The Attic. But don't take my word for it……get along there and when you do, ask yourself one question…..do I really want to be anywhere else when I can be in a beautiful home away from home!

We came to the Attic for dinner last Thursday, their new summer menu has something for everyone!! The vegi spring rolls were very tasty and the salt caramel homemade ice cream on the chocolate fondant was to die for. The waiting staff were very helpful and attentive we will be going back very soon to try the rest of the menu as this is now a new favorite place.

Definitely a new favourite. The ambience is really nice, staff super-friendly and our waitress was awesome, knowledgeable about the food, a good sense of humor and attentive without being intrusive. The food itself was fabulous, I had the chicken breast for a main and my partner raved about his perfectly cooked lamb rump. It is a must to visit!

We went to the Attic today, and thought it was fabulous !
My partner and I are very much into our food, and eat all over the world. The price of the food is relatively cheap for the more fine dining experience. Not a place for simple pub grub.
We decided to have some lunch time drinks and some starters to nibble on. We enjoyed the bruschetta with blue cheese and figs, salt and pepper squid and buffalo wings. The food was light, and tasty.
Service was AMAZING ! My glass never went empty, and we were fed within minutes. We sat outside and enjoyed the Mission Bay bustle. The kind waiter (american/Canadian guy) was very pleasant, and attended to our every need, he was amazing and made our experience great.

After hearing so many good things about this place, decided to give it a try on Saturday evening with some friends. From the moment you walk upstairs, you feel the stylish decor and the stunning atmosphere with the fireplace and candles that makes it very cozy and charming. The staff is just up to the notch, best service I've had in Auckland. We went just for some drinks, but got tempted with few snacks, I tried the mini lamb burgers.... they are so cute and simply delicious!!
What a lovely night with the girls!

I cannot rate this establishment highly enough! My wife & I wanted somewhere to quietly enjoy our anniversary together. The sticking point with us choosing any eating establishment is that there have to be gluten & soy free alternatives on the menu. Although The Attic doesn't advertise itself as a GF environment, the waiting staff were very knowledgeable about the menu & were happy to check with the chef on the more technical stuff such as ingredients in the sauces etc. OK so we finally ordered! Greek salad for her, confit of rabbit for me as starters. For mains we chose the corn fed chicken breast for her & the fish of the day for me, which happened to be my all time favourite - Blue Cod! Shared a side of steamed baby vegetables! Everything was cooked perfectly, the sauces / dressings were flavoursome but didn't overpower the meat/fish. Portions were of a good size - neither too generous nor too small. As I hinted at earlier the service could not be faulted. It was a surprising cold night so the fireplace not only added to the ambiance, but made it a cosy evening. That is until we had to leave to get back to the car! Will definitely be back! Thanks to everyone & top marks to the manager & Chef!

Had a birthday here this evening with a set menu. The options looked good and I chose the '28 day certified aged steak' as a main... Was ok but nothing special. Not cooked as requested and quite chewy, not worth the $35 + price tag. The veges and sauce were good however. Not the worst meal I have had but could be improved. Nice location and most staff friendly and helpful. Wouldn't hurry back any time soon.
Sep 01, 2012
I have been there several times and it never fails to impress! Very friendly staff and awesome service without being intruding. And the food, oh the food, it's just amazing! The beef tartare is awesome, an old time classic parisian bistro dish, its hard to find it anywhere else. The location is fantastic, seating outside and enjoying Mission Bay view is priceless, you gotta love it! Can't wait to be back again... soon!

I went because my granddaughter loves it. The service was excellent, out waiter couldnt have been better. My meal was average, my granddaughters looked better so I guess it depends on what you order.
Aug 30, 2012
My most recent experience wasn't so great. We usually go for dinner but this was one of the few times we had lunch. My partner ordered the open chicken sandwich (we have ordered this several times before). Despite being called a sandwich this came with only one piece of bread on the bottom and nothing on the top. The sandwich looked considerably smaller than it usually is and it had no avocado (which is one of the ingredients listed on the menu).
At first we figured this may just be a modification to their original one, but we sat between two tables and they both ordered the chicken sandwich - and BOTH came with two pieces of bread and was definitely bigger than the one we received! When we asked the waitress about it she said that the other customers MAY have asked for extras on their sandwiches and offered no alternative for us, even though it was blatantly obvious that we had been under-served. She was the only waitress working- how could she not know? Unless she was giving us a bad excuse?
I find this really ridiculous. We have spent a lot of money at this restaurant and their reasoning wasn't acceptable. I find it too much of a coincidence that two people within minutes of eachother would ask for extra bread- you would think that if you are ordering a sandwich you would get a sandwich. Was just disappointed with the service overall that day.
This happened almost a month ago and we haven't gone back since. It is our usual Mission Bay dinner spot but I don't think we'll be going back.

Don't usually write these things, but after our experience this weekend we thought we'd give our thanks. My girlfriend and I live in the central city, and wanting a little escape decided to go to Mission Bay for the evening on a Friday night. We haven't been around the area much except for mussels at the belgian beer cafe on the corner, and not having heard much about the Attic we were a little hesitant. Greeted at the top of the stairs by a very polite waiter (George?) who seated us and took our order. They were very busy with a young (20's) crowd who were seated in quite a nice little lounge area in the back of the place. We smoke, so we sat outside, and were delighted by the view from the place. I wanted beer (of which they have plenty on tap - great selection of Mac's) but my girlfriend wanted a cocktail but nothing really took our fancy on the cocktail list, so we asked if the bartender could make something up. Our drinks and food arrived promptly - I work in the hospitality industry, and we were both blown away by the level of quality of cocktail we were presented with, especially for our expectations of Mission Bay being a beer bar suburb. We couldn't stay long, so weren't able to sample much from the menu - the rosemary fries and squid were both to an exceptional standard. Before we left, we approached the bar and introduced ourselves to the bartender (Jake) - we asked for another 'surprise' and he made us an amazing cherry, chocolatey hazlenut shot for us both that neither of us had had before. When I asked him for the recipe he wrote the ingredients on a piece of paper for me - an astonishing level of service from a suburb-level establishment - let alone one that was busy (I was tempted to ask if he would come and work for me!)
In short, we left very happy, were pleasantly surprised by the service, food, drinks and professional manner of the entire staff. The only fault we could place would be that the outside heaters didn't seem to be working properly, and the crowds inside were quite loud - small things. We are now very much looking forward to our next trip to Mission Bay, and will definitely be making sure it is the Attic that we visit.

Terima Kasih Penelope!

I organised a suprise birthday celebration for my hubby at The Attic and Penelope the events lady was very helpful from the word go. She responded promptly to emails, was very attentive to my requests and took pride in helping make it a wonderful suprise for my husband.
Yesterday on the night of the party, both Penelope and our waiter Georgy delivered excellent customer service and made our guests feel welcomed. The drinks and nibbles flowed throughout the night and the food was delicious. My parents were so impressed that they now want to hold my brother's upcoming 25th party at The Attic.
Thank you Penelope and crew for a wonderful night.

My partner and I went for dinner today and we simply loved it!! I had the chicken breast and he had the pork belly, it was hard to choose because everything on the menu seems so delicious... Well, can't say about the rest (not just yet ;) but the chicken breast and the pork belly were heavenly!!! Beautiful colours on the plate and amazing flavours combined together!!!
The service was spot on, by far the best service I have had when dining out. The waitress who served us was very attentive and polite and the manager came personally check our meals. Great atmosphere, candle light dinner near the fireplace... wooow.... Best Romantic Dinner Ever!!!!
Can't wait to go back again!!

I've been to the Attic several times and can't say I've ever had a bad experience. Their formula is pretty simple: Nice location, good food, friendly and efficient service, tasty beer on tap at reasonable prices. These are things most bars should be able to get right, but a lot don't. The fact that they have the Mac's range is especially nice - love the Hop Rocker.

Went to the Attic last night for the first time.
We booked a table for 8pm and arrived at 8pm but they were a tad busy so we went to wait in the lobby for 15 minutes. They gave us complementary entree whilst we waited which was a nice touch.
We were seated in the restaurant and ordered the Calamari and the Prawns with Scallops. The presentation was excellent and the taste was exceptional, easily the best I've tasted in NZ. Was very happy with the start of the meal.
For the main I ordered the Rack of Lamb and it was fantastic, awesome presentation and sublime taste.
Overall this restaurant was great, would recommend anyone that wants high quality food, good service and a nice atmosphere.

I have been here a few times - for dinner and just drinks.
The location is lovely as is the service.
Recently went for dinner before a movie on a Tuesday night. Was very pleased with the service, the food (the lamb) was fantastic and the movie deal on Tuesdays is awesome.
Will be back....again.

Birthday meal with my husband and three young boys, this venue was top class. From the service, the excellent food and not forgetting going the extra mile for my son in providing a kids burger without the sesame (one of his allergies). The bill was also a pleasant surprise! We intend to make it our monthly night out with the kids - HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

We stopped in at The Attic for dinner recently and the food was fantastic. In all honesty, this was probably the best fish main I have ever had. Ever. My partner was also impressed with his chicken dish and it is certain that we will be going back again. One small and insignificant criticism would be that the potato side we ordered was somewhat smaller than what we expected for the price, but otherwise the food was well worth every cent.

Absolute fantastic service from our foreign waiter. Made a special trip out to Mission Bay for a well deserved Brunch on a Sunday morning. We ordered 1x chicken sandwich and 2x Eggs Bene (meat&veg option) Food was delicious as were the coffees. Great views, cannot wait to come back for dinner.

Went here on a Sunday for breakfast and it was so good and also worth the money. Had the eggs bene and for the first time at a restaurant i finally got a decent slab of avocado with it! Will be returning for sure as it was reasonably priced and a great location with beautiful views. The service was also good can't wait to return for dinner!!!

What a lovely venue. Four ladies for a birthday lunch, not wanting to spend a fortune but get great food and wonderful service. Well, we got it. The Snattics selection were great and a very good size. Plenty to eat and very yummy. Well done, we will certainly be back.

Went with the wife for lunch just after New Years.
It was pretty quiet so we got a seat on the balcony which was very nice. The Staff were good as was the atmosphere.
The reason I didn't rate this any higher was due to the food standard. I was expecting it to be pretty good after reading the reviews but I found the food very average.
I got the chicken sandwich which was pretty much something you would make yourself at home. I was pretty shocked that the cheese in it was a processed cheese slice.
The wife got the Pomegranate salad which she enjoyed.
The food price seemed OK but the beers were a little pricey, I think about $9.50 for a bottle.
Go for the location but just don't expect too much from the food.

My husband & I decided to try The Attic for my birthday lunch this year. We enjoyed a platter & wine on the deck on a lovely sunny spring day.
We were so impressed we booked my work Xmas party there.
A group of 6 ladies for lunch on a Sunday, what a fantastic way to spend the day relaxing in the homely lounge.
Platters again for lunch, so tasty and easy. Staff were very attentive & friendly.
Faultless day, I can highly recommend it.

Have been to The Attic a few times now and never disappointed. Twice I've had the chefs tasting platter and it was divine, fresh, tasty and too good to share. I've enjoyed the 'ladies night', cheaper champagne, also with the great food. Recently I held a function for my husband at The Attic. The staff were terrific. The manager was easily contacted on email and always got back to me with my queries. I went for a cocktail taster night and was introduced to several staff making me feel very welcome and that my event was important to them. On the night, lots of positive feedback on the food and The Attic itself as a place to go. We had our own waitress all night saving a lot of hassle of repeatedly going to the bar and she really was terrific, nothing was too much trouble. Will be going back again!!!

We were lucky enough to select The Attic for our combined birthday parties. From our first contact we found the staff professional and accommodating. On the night of our event the staff were fantastic, one person was assigned to assist with ensuring the guests orders were taken so they didn't have to wait at the bar. The delivery of the food during the night was well timed and of an excellent quality. We would like to extend a personal thank you to Cindy and her staff for making the event an absolute success. We have recommended The Attic to all of our friends.

My fiance and I held our engagement party at the Attic bar two weeks ago.
We searched a few places and this was by far the best for the numbers we were expecting. We had approx 70 invites and approx 45 attended. While the venue holds approx 80 it is a good space for 40-60, in my opinion, especially if you have some older people who want to sit down.
It was excellent value for money for hosting a party. We managed to provide food and drink to our guests throughout the night without breaking the bank.
The venue itself is lovely and has a nice feel. We didn't need to decorate or do much as it already has good decor. The area also extended out to the deck, which has heaters too! There were enough places (and seats) for everyone.
There is no venue hire fee and while you don't get exclusive use of the bar the designated area is quite separate from the bar. We had our own assigned waitress too, who was superb. She ran round topping up drinks and handing out food all night. She understood our requirements (bar tab limit, food choices, etc) and was able to steer us appropriately throughout the night to suit our guests.
My partner and I were left to mingle with no worries at all.
The food was lovely (so I'm told as I didn't get chance to eat any). Drink choices went down a treat too. We selected our own choice of wine/beer covered by our bar tab - which helps make the tab go further. But people could of course buy champagne and cocktails themselves if they wished. Not that people did as the wine list at Attic is pretty good.
Attic bar was well organised and were there to make sure everyone had a good time, which they did. People still say what a good night it was.

My wife has special dietary needs which , though simple seem to baffle some of the best restaurants in town, and were just too hard for other restaurants in the neighbourhood. Head chef, Tristan, not only came to the party, but went several extra miles to make a simple meal incredible both in presentation and flavour. The wait staff were impeccable, attentive without being obtrusive and ready to help in any way. My own meal, selected from the standard menu was excellent. When I visit Auckland again, The Attic will be on my list.

We had a joint birthday party at the Attic and from our first dealings with manager, Cindie, we were impressed. Cindie/The Attic showed a caring attitude to our needs and were flexible to our catering needs and very personal in all their dealings with us. Their communication and service were first class. Great to see in the hospitality business and often promised, however not delivered. Cindie and The Attic definitely delivered and everybody had a great time. We have been to the Attic on a few personal and business occasions and enjoyed ourselves, great to see they are able to cater competently for private functions too.
Best Regards for their success in the future. Our event was a great success, thanks to them.

Just want to say a big thanks to the Attic for making our engagement party such an awesome night! Chantal and Cindie were fantastic, went out of their way and were great to deal with. The mini burgers were a huge hit too! Thanks very much!

I went to The Attic the first time a few months ago with my BFF without knowing what to expect. I was blown away by the gorgeous views, the hospitality of the staff especially going out of their way to find my friend's particular favourite wine. And the food....what can I say?! Delicious! We ordered a few of the entrees and ate a tapas-style dinner. It was so great that I've been back a second time.

Continuing from my previous review (warning do not press enter to go to the next line as this review will automatically post!)We specified to be seated closest to the fire, and to have the fire lit for us.
Our kind french waiter was pleasingly obliging. When taking our order he took particular care with my specific requirements, being that I follow a very strict diet. A few moments later Tristan the head chef came out and introduced himself personally and clarified my request and gave assurance that he would deliver. Tristan and The attic bar delivered exceptional customer service that exceeded all our expectations, brilliant food prepared exactly to my particular dietary requirements, and an overall relaxing and friendly Sunday afternoon experience. I recommend if you have particular requirements with your food and high expectations for customer service, look no further then "The Attic" in Mission bay where the team will deliver an overall experience that will leave you coming back for more. I came for a late lunch with two friends a few weeks ago, and we had a lovely time. We sat on the balcony, and had a great view of the main street and water. The staff were friendly and attentive, our drinks came out quickly and we didn't have to wait long for our food either. Would definitely go again.

I had dinner with work colleges on 26 May. The food was absolutely stunning. The place has a really lovely atmosphere, the fire place made it really cozy. I would definitely recommend this venue to friends. Since eating there I have been craving the Seafood Platter, and can't wait to go back there again. The service was great, and really friendly.

I had dinner and drinks with friends at the Attic Bar and Restaurant last night and found it to be 1st class in every respect!
The staff where very welcoming and friendly, the overall vibe and aesthetics of the place are really very pleasant for an evening out, but what really blew us all away was the presentation and quality of the food which was simply top notch! I will be back again and will be recommending to friends AAA+

I went to the Attic last night for dinner with friends. What a fantastic night. The food was excellent - loved the squid. We had great service - not over the top just friendly and really attentive. The platters which we started on were seriously good - with nice attention to detail - the pesto was obviously made in house and the selection of cheeses and meat were really really good - not cheap and nasty as some of the restaurants serve up.
I would highly recommend the Attic great atmosphere, very very good food and a good sized range of lovely - not over the top priced wines.
If you are around Auckland / The Bays areas do yourself a favour and check it out. We'll be back!

I certainly agree about some of the comments about the Manager and wait staff. The manager/owner was the rudest most arrogant hospitality manager I've come across(And I eat out frequently). Was told to take off my hat before I'd even sat down at the table it was coming off once I sat down. A group of tourists came at a table next to us mostly wearing hats for the duration of there meal... I ordered the open chicken sandwich which arrived with a burnt bun and mostly hard avocado. Also in the middle of our meal we were asked to stand while a table next to us was moved, would have been nice to wait till we had finished eating. The place was quiet so could not see the reason for interrupting our meal in this way. Great views and aesthetics are about all this place has going for it.

Yum. I love the Attic for a quiet drink by the upstairs open-windows overlooking Mission Bay.
I was delighted that the waitress asked the sommelier to come and recommend something when I mentioned there was no Gewürztraminer option (my fave wine) on the wine list. He came over and with good humour, offered to open a bottle of Gewurzt that he happened to have on hand, and 'he'd have a glass too'! Really impressed by their service, and the food was delicious - haloumi delightfully prepared.

Had a large work group of us go in for lunch, definitely the nicest place in mission bay, not a tourist trap, just good food and well priced. Sadly my calamari was not up to scratch and I wasn't meal checked but everyone Else's meals were great to graze on! I barely touched my meal and if I didn't have to pay for it I would absolutely be back. However i wasn't offered my money back for a poor meal so my custom will not go back either.

I usually come here in the afternoon with friends for rose wine and bits to eat on the deck looking over mission bay. Such a good location, and the Attic sticks out against the rest on the strip, far too many trashy, cliche restaurants with poor service and food.
When you come to the attic you feel welcome, get good service, drinks, and food. What more do you want.
Came in for dinner with my girlfriend after our summer holiday, the mains and dessert were fantastic.

Held our Christmas function here on Saturday night with 16 people attending. The planning and booking arrangements were easy allowing the personalised menu and wines to be available on arrival. Everyone around seemed to be having a good time. Good choice of food for set menu and service to match. My party enjoyed the night and I will go there again.

I am very surprised at the below review! I was also at The Attic on Sunday and had a fantastic day in the sun with friends!! The atmosphere was great, with lots of people and live music. We had no problems with the noise as live music generally is a bit louder! We didn’t find it interfered with our catch up, just added to the fun!! The food was fantastic and the staff (although really busy) were very helpful, timely and easy to deal with. I have used this venue for a work function in the past (which our staff raved about for weeks) and on the occasions I have gone with friends, I have always been impressed. Looking forward to another Sunday there soon!!

Nightmare. The music was on so loud you can't hear yourself. Dinner conversation was out of the question. Service was slow. The waitress ACTUALLY came to us said, "The chef has just told us they have a lot of food orders, so I am taking it slow on the ordering." I understand and appreciate the explanation BUT as diners, we don't really need to be put off like that when we've just sat down. Food standard vary from plate to plate. Portion was so small, not even enough for a small eater. Paying the bill was quite a hassle. Overall, food was bad, service was slow and very unorganized, especially when they are packed!!

Great service but the food was bad, bad, bad! The Haloumi starter was just a massive pile of molten cheese with bits of undercooked yet sloppy eggplant and a single leaf of what I think was baby spinach (hard to tell as it was under a thick layer of oil). The hubby's steak tasted like it had been frozen and the chips were partly raw! I was not charged for the main that I couldn't eat (felt too sick from entree) so can't comment on that. Staff were apologetic and lovely but was still very expensive for the worst food I have eaten in a long time.
Great bar though!

We had a late breakfast here on Saturday, a brilliantly sunny day. The restaurant enjoys elevated sea views and has a nice cruisey vibe. It was great to be away from the fumes and busy foot traffic but still have a view. The decor is really pleaant with leather couches and a fire which would be super in winter. The service was friendly and pleasant, and food very good with quite a few points of difference to standard breakfast fare normally encountered. We'll be back.

The only thing that lets this place down is the service. The food not only looks great but tastes fantastic and is reasonably priced. The staff need to drop the attitude though, you work in service and your job title is waitress i.e. "wait". Would recommend the place but on the proviso that you order quickly without asking any questions.

I had a wonderful experience at the attic.
Not only my table, but also the table across from mine received food promptly after ordering and all food arrived hot and plentiful. Garlic bread and the bread and dips were great! My 3 friends were also more than happy with their dishs.
Would definitely return!

Fantastic restaurant. Food arrived quickly and was delicious. Staff were very friendly and had a great sense of humor. Would recommend it to anyone.

Really enjoy coming to the Attic. It is the first place I stop when I visit from Whangarei. It has consistently tasty food and a great location/atmosphere. This is a nice place to spend time with people over food and drinks.

I was really impressed with the experience I had at the Attic. From a purely aesthetic perspective, the place has an incredibly welcoming, classy vibe. The balcony was heated and covered and had classic mission bay views. The different areas facilitated a fine dining experience but also a more casual bar atmosphere which meant we were happy to stay afterwards for drinks.
The food we ordered was excellent, reasonably priced and I found the staff serving to be friendly and professional, especially considering it was quite busy.
Would definitely go again and recommend it to others.

not one to venture out often as prefer a good home cooked meal my boyfriend and i decided i needed a time off so off we went to mission bay on our day off for a nice change....
we settle on the attic because of the pretty views it had and somewhat simple menu....from the moment we got upstairs the little blonde girl with glasses was he rudest and most annoying person iv'e ever encountered..now we both work in hospotality fulltime and from the mediocre food way over priced to the english chap behind bar who was serving an intoxicated person...absolutely apalling never in my life am i taking the time away from the stove again after this horrible experience....

Our experience at this restaurant was a nightmare. Not only did we not get what we ordered after waiting nearly an hour, the owner/manager was the rudest individual I have ever encountered in a restaurant. We will not be back.

The service was great! They were all incredibly friendly the moment I walked in the door till I walked out. Genuinely nice staff. The waitress gave me great suggestions on menu and wine items that I ended up being very pleased with. The atmosphere is very nice, comfortable and contemporary. They even had enjoyable shows on the large TV in the lounge area. Great view of the ocean and beach from deck. I like this place and will frequent it again and again.
