Reviews for The Bluestone Room

Just want to give a shout out to the Bluestone Room and staff. We had never been here before but wanted something reasonably close to The Civic as we were going to a show. We had a limited time so booked a table ( thank goodness because the place was packed at 6pm on a Thursday night.) Despite this we were all wined and dined within an hour, all had different meals and all were declared delicious. I would definitely come again, in fact the younger members of our party are already planning to come to the Bitchin’ Bingo night.
Thanks to all concerned for getting our big night out off to a great start.

I discovered this pub through a work event so I thought I would try it out for dinner and we walked out feeling very satisfied. We both had the burgers which were enormous and tasted amazing!Great atmosphere too I’m surprised it wasn’t busier although the staff told me they are busiest for after-work drinks so I’m keen to come back on a Friday evening.

The Bluestone Room is officially my new favourite bar in Auckland. The bar is well established and feels like it’s been here forever unlike the constant new pop up bars around Auckland (although I have nothing against them). Great beer, hearty pub food and friendly attentive staff.

Just had lunch at the Bluestone Room where I have eaten on several occasions last year. Arrived at just after 1.00pm and had ordered by 1.10pm. I’m sorry to say that our meals didn’t arrive until 1.50pm which is just not acceptable, especially on a Monday when it wasn’t that busy. On the plus side the food was great, and I thoroughly recommend the Chicken and Mushroom pie. A real pie with crust on the top and on the bottom, unlike other pub pies that are basically a soup with a crust on top!
Lift your game on the meal orders please, but otherwise keep up the good work.Comment from Chelsea K. of The Bluestone Room 23/01/2014

Took some of our staff (18) here for the annual Christmas Party. To be honest I thought the food would be average, but the boys would be happy with beers and pub food. We were rapt with the service we received from the moment we arrived and the food was just amazing. Steaks all cooked to various requirements. Fish dishes I was told were just delicious. Everyone commented on how good their meals were. The staff from the front of house, waiting, bar staff and even the door staff were great. Friendly, attentive and really helpful.
The DJ at the end of the night was great – we were obviously an “older” age group and he didn’t have ALL of our favourites, but he still did a great job.
Would thoroughly recommend Bluestone Room to anyone wanting a great meal, good value and a fun night out. Whether you are a large group or just a couple.

The Bluestone Room is one of my favorite bars in Auckland, I go there regularly with friends and its a shame there aren’t more good reviews for this place. Not easy to find even though its in close proximity to Queen, friendly staff, good hearty portions of quality pub food and great beer on tap served in decent pint sizes. Overall neat pub.

Had a very disappointing meal here with a large group of friends. Ordered the gourmet fish burger which came out in a very big bun. Upon opening the burger to tuck in, found there was a very pitiful amount of fish for a $20 meal. A fellow diner also ordered this burger and had hardly any fish on their burger too. We complained on the portion size and the waitress took it away to add more. When we got our meals back, I took one mouthful to find it was almost completely cold and all I could smell was a very strong fish smell. I couldn’t eat any more and had a queasy stomach for the rest of the day. It’s a shame as I thought it was a lovely pub but will never go back.Comment from Chelsea K. of The Bluestone Room 16/09/2013

Heard of this pub through a friend, and my god it was difficult to find, we had to hunt through the back streets but it was well worth it! This place is beautiful, the beer is great and the staff were attentive. We had the $10 meals which was a steak with fries and salad with a tasty mushroom sauce, and were amazed by the value for money, i’ll definitely be back for the main menu.

Haven’t been here for a while and came down to meet friends for dinner before the hypnosis show on Thursday night. Food was fast even though the place was packed due to Darts Night.
Large portions and attentive staff, we enjoyed it.

We do a lot of eating out in Auckland City, have now been to the Bluestone Room twice, both times a disaster, first time the steak would have had to have been one of the worst we have had, asked for medium it was that over cooked we could not even cut into it, the service however was very good and they convinced us to come back and try again, two Saturdays back four of us went in, we had burgers as they couldn’t make too many mistakes there, it was average for pub food, this time however the service was disgusting, we paid everything in cash, went outside to finish our drinks, as we were leaving the bouncer said the manager told him we had not paid for the meals, and took me inside, he called the manager over who again said we needed to settle account, showed her the receipt, which she checked then said we hadn’t paid for one soft drink and one piece of garlic bread, I was totally embarrassed in front of my guests and also fellow dinners, this was not my fault , they had the cheek to accuse me of trying to make off without paying $12, they did not think this was their issue, twice is enough. Thank you Bluestone Room.Comment from Chelsea K. of The Bluestone Room 29/05/2013

The Bluestone Room is a lovely pub… for drinking… There is a nice atmosphere here but it is severly let down by the overpriced food. We went on a Wednesday night for Quiz. There were no real ‘specials’ on for the food so we ordered burgers, we figured at $20 each they would be pretty decent meals. Unfortunately they were just a sad patty with a piece of lettuce and tomato on a boring bun and a tiny handful of chips. Now we know why they do 2 for 1 burgers on Saturday night. Most pubs do a steak sandwhich or something far more substantial for $20. Felt totally ripped off and won’t be going back for the Quiz again.Comment from Chelsea K. of The Bluestone Room 4/02/2013

Pity more havent written reviews for this place. A lovely little pub (once you find it – go up Durham st west from Queen turn to right just before end of lane a Wilsons carpark on one side and a Tournament opp).
Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was great. Very tasty and FINALLY a Chef who can cook spare ribs Tender and grilled with just the right amount of sauce. Salad and burger also full of flavour. Thanks guys for a great lunch.

Great pub grub. The chicken burger, blat, bluestone burger and lamb salad are are tasty and generously sized. It’s all too easy to waste time here:-)
