Has this eatery recently changed hands? Went in for lunch today and Asians now behind the counter who argued and yelled at each other constantly! Took ages for our food to arrive. One of our party had her food sitting on the counter for 10 mins while we waited for the rest of our order. Portions were smaller, food was cold and we needed a microscope to find the hummus. Has always rated highly with us but today was one big disappointment after another. If these are the new owners we will not be going back if today’s visit is anything to go by.

Yummiest kebab place in town Although I’m biased (owner’s daughter), I disagree with a lot of the negative comments on here. The owner of Chargrill has been in NZ for longer than 20 years, he is not an illegal immigrant. Also there was a problem with the coupon company, they printed too many and made a lot of mistakes. The new branch on Customs Street looks very nice and is much bigger.

Tasty and good value for money.

I really love this place and go there every time I am in the city (I live on Waiheke Island).

The food is delicious, and the staff very friendly. Contrary to what another reviewer said, the girl at the counter is always very friendly and somehow manages to take all the orders as well as delivering the food and clearing the tables.

Keep up the good work!

Went here two weeks ago with an entertainment book voucher.

Food – Very quick (less then 5 min) but all three of us thought the food lacked in flavour, and clearly had been rushed.

Service – the worst I have experienced in Auckland. The woman who served me grunted when I placed my order, no smile, no eye contact, could tell she didn’t want to be there. When food was delivered to the table, she banged the plates down without saying a word! Two woman who were served after me were also complaining about her service.

Will not be going back again. Disappointing.

Was visiting Auckland over the weekend and come a gross Char grill wow!!!! Great food, wonderful service. staff are the best. I recommend to all my friends to go there

the service is the best thing i have ever noticed at this place, all nice people who look after all customers.

I never lose when I go here. I’m all about the big breakfast… Straight hangover killer. Pizza are all goods, and I’m feelin the kebabs…. Ok so apparently my review is too short… Aite… Could do wit a lil mo Tom relish wit my big brekkie, that’s bout it…

I’ve seen all of the bad reviews and I honestly have to disagree with all of them!! I <3 Chargrill. Their Lucia pizzas are to die for, and their service is outstanding. Very friendly staff who really take the time to go above and beyond… Been there so many times and have never had any complaints whatsoever.

The Wednesday night shift staff are almost like brothers to me Would highly recommend to everyone.

Seriously dudes, get far away from this odd place, the service is miserable and the pizzas are the worst in the world by far (I visited more than 20 countries in the world and this one is the world wide worst-winner just like to eat an oily bubble gum), disgusting! expensive and be prepared with your Eno+Mylanta+Gaviscon pack!….Sorry but there are no 0 stars record, that is exactly what this place deserves.
Bon apetit……yes, but so far away of this self service forgettable corner.

BE WARNED!This place will be on target and ill contact the police the owner OF Chargrill Kebab BurgeR is a con artist, he sold food vouchers on cudo 19th October,When people go to his shop to buy the food with vouchers he turns them away and says you cant use the vouchers, really sleazy and abusive thug he also threatened a girl and nearly smashed her in the face this guy should be locked up!How dare he rip people off and sell vouchers with no intention of letting people use them.

Bummer, if you asked me a year ago about this place I’d give them a 4-5 star but the portions have gotten so much smaller and isn’t good value for money any more. Yes the burgers are still big but the patties are tiny, there’s less cheese and sauce and the buns have changed. Also don’t buy the kumera chips, they’re tiny. The last few times I’ve gone I’ve felt completely ripped off and would definitely rather go to Raviz next door. It would be great if the food went back to how it used to be, it was delicious.

Good service.
The burgers are huge, but not much flavor to them, I tend to go for the kebabs or mix on rice, which have lots more flavor.
How ever the lamb/beef is sometimes not cooked very well, could do with longer cooking time.

Massive burgers – no doubt about that. But they are pretty average. Probably didn’t taste as good as everyone else has described due to the terrible handling of our order. We tried to use our entertainment voucher which CLEARLY said “one complimentary burger when another burger of equal value or less is purchased” – they replied “oh, they’ve got it wrong, we can only give you the cheapest burger on the menu”…seriously? Where’s the common sense? Lose a handful of customers over a couple of dollars.

Definitely not worth going back for the large, but very average burgers.

pretty good. have eaten there several times. fries are a must order. burgers are colossal and well spiced, but don’t really like the bun. too dry. kebabs are fresh and well made, but a bit bland in taste. based on others’ raves about the kebabs I’ve tried them 3 times, but they just don’t have much flavour compared to the restaurant’s other offerings.

easily the best kebab or burger place I have been to in New Zealand. The burgers are just perfect every single time and the kebabs are superb, the venue is in a good location and is always tidy the music is a little loud at time but the food is SO GOOD that it makes no difference. another person mentioned how their chips were perfect every time, I 100% agree with that statement, when we go there we will always order chips even if we don’t feel like them. plus the staff are some of the most friendly in the industry. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We generally go there for lunch once a week and I dont see that changing anytime in the near future.

Chargrill is awesome, Fabulous fresh food, the Kebabs are great and not like some other kebab shops the meatis genuine meat and great staff. 10/10.

Chargrill is our regular haunt, breakfast lunch and dinner. They have great burgers and excellent kebabs. The chips are great too, but the breakfast menu is one of the best value for money. Try the big breakfast if you’re really hungry or the french toast which is delicious.
We work at tvnz and always go there ; )
