I visited and discovered they had new owners the food was not good. I went back there a month later, what an improvement! Service was excellent, coffee good and the food back up to standard. I was asked quite a few times “is everything okay?”so I think the new owners must have had a kick in pants. I advise anyone who had a bad experience to give it another try.

I go to this cafe all the time for lunch, until i back to visit last week with my friend, and i noticed the new people at the counter. i found the food tasteless, i ordered an eggs Benedict and eggs was overcooked and tasteless,I went back the following day and ordered a chicken ficcelle, and the same thing,no sauce, and not taste the same,not happy at all.

Came here yesterday and they got 2 out of our 3 meals wrong, after a 30 minute wait. Bacon on one instead of salmon, and no bacon at all on the french toast with banana and bacon. The coffees ordered as soon as we arrived hadn’t turned up either. Management were more concerned about us paying for the 3rd (child) meal which was correct but we were wanting to eat as a family, together, and not prepared to wait another 30 minutes so we just paid for the single bottled drink we got when we first sat down and went elsewhere. A disappointing experience

I used to visit this cafe weekly but now live in Wellington. I was up for a week on business and was excited about sitting in the Courtyard with its lovely gardens and enjoying the fantastic food and coffee and rushed there as soon as I could.
What has happened to this place?? As I approached the cafe the first thing I thought was, it looked neglected. The umbrellas were not out, furniture higgledy piggeldy, wilted plants in front planters, and grass growing out front steps. That is all before I went inside. Hot day and not a window open! the girl on till didn’t speak English? All I wanted to do was order and get into fresh air, but took so long! The menu looked as good as ever but that is where it ended. I went into the Courtyard to wait, and wait and wait. While I waited I nearly cried the Courtyard looked like the rest of the cafe, neglected, only 1/2 the furniture out, and weeds every where, and this was such an attraction in the past. Finally my food came out. I waited for about 20 minutes for tasteless and poorly presented food and when I asked for salt and pepper the waiter just looked as if he didn’t understand what I said. I certainly wont be back as even the coffee was very average.

Visiting from out of town on the 2nd dec 2012, we decided to visit this cafe, and how glad we did.
Firstly greeted at the door by a lovely man, who bought our menus to the table with some fresh water and glasses.
Then we ordered all choosing something different.
Wow the food was fabulously divine and alot at that we would not need lunch!
When we left, we all said thanks and the lovely man came over to thank us.
We will be back!!!!!!!!

We were at your cafe between 2-3 pm Nov 22 because of your good reputation. But, regrettably, we found some food price labels were incomplete. Worst of all, when we were finishing our meals and drinks, one female worker (without saying any word) rushed to remove from the table all the plates, including the saucer, while one of us was still enjoying the tea. She might be a newcomer, but needs proper training for your cafe’s sake.

Went in there … wondered if something was positively different … it was … under new management – wahoo! coffee was as good as always, staff super nice, ambiance great, food good … got me old Columbus Coffee hub back that I’ve previously known to be the best for … like any Columbus Coffee cafes elsewhere. Well done, Columbus.
