Mussells were very well cooked but very small so would have expected more for the price. Tomato juice tasted like flavoured water so when I paid the bill I asked what sort it was- said that it was watery and was told ‘maybe I didn’t shake it enough’- for $7 a glass I think that a decent shake before pouring is a no-brainer. won’t be hurrying back anytime soon.

This was our first dining experience in Dunedin, and we were very satisfied.

Dunedin restaurants lack culture and personality. I think Craic has it right. I ordered Braised Hare. It was so tender, it melted in my mouth. My husband had Bangers n Mash, and was equally pleased with his order. This was also the place that offered our first (of many) taste of Magners cider.

It’s a small bar. But cosy, unique with excellent food. We will definitely be back for more.

My partner took me out here for my birthday dinner on Saturday night, he ordered the steak sandwich and I had the mussel pot as a main. The steak sandwich was huge, but unfortunately the mussel “pot” which was actually a bowl of mussels left me hungry, we asked if they accidentally sent out the entree size, we were told that an entree would only have consisted of 5-6 mussels. I’ve ordered mussel pots at other restaurants and they have been quite substantial 20-25 mussels, the craic serving size are substantially smaller (lucky if it were a dozen) – very odd considering the huge size of other meals. Went elsewhere for desert.

Had dinner at the Craic tonight. This is probably the fifth time I have eaten here now, and have never been disappointed. The food is very tasty, the servings very generous, the atmosphere is nice (though far removed from “fine dining”)and all at very acceptable prices. Great selection of beers and a good wine list as well.
I’ll be back…

I came here for lunch and really enjoyed the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.

I had the pasta which was absolutely perfect! The staff were very friendly which I very much appreciated (it’s hard to come by these days)
I will definetly be back and recommend this place to other, thank you!
