Five of us waited 1½ hours to be served brunch on Mothers Day. We had booked for 11.30am, arrived 11.35am and were served at 1.05pm! They weren’t even busy; all the tables in the back area were empty except ours.
The food was delicious, but this (and free coffees/juice, in compensation) did not make up for five people losing so much time out of their mothers’ day.

Have to agree with all the other 5 star reviews. This was the first time we’d visited Herne Bay Local and the service and food was faultless. We had Jamaican Beef Skewers and Sashimi with dipping sauce Sharing Plates and both were excellent, and then both had the Market Fish of the day which was superb – a very generous portion of crusted Kingfish served on parsnip puree with Asian style vegetables and good value @$30. We look forward to returning to sample more of their menu!

At first I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t swap the drink of my voucher with another drink of the same value. But the dishes we had were really superb and the wine ended up being quite nice, too!

I have been to the Herne Bay Local a number of times for a beer, but had never eaten there. Now I don’t why, as the side plate menu is fantastic.

The service always seems to be great and I would recommend the twice cooked pork with cider glaze.

Can be very busy but still worth the stop.

Dined here on a quiet Monday night. Was cosy and didn’t mind the lack of crowds, could hear each other talk! (Know it’s very busy the rest of the week!)

Had nice, efficient yet unobtrusive service from the brunette waitress who served us (Sorry, didn’t get your name!), And the meals were tasty, well cooked and large servings!

Nice to go out in the neighbourhood on an ‘off’ night and find something like this, Thanks!

Yes, visited Herne Bay Local Eatery & Bar last Saturday for the first time.
The service was absolutely outstanding, food was just devine. Thank you very much for making it such a wonderful experience especially for the first time. Strongly recommended it already to some of my friends and will not hesitate to refer others to this cosy place in future.

I went with a group of girls from work for lunch. The food I had was absolutely gorgeous, melt in the mouth pork belly and light tasty Chicken Liver parfait. I suspect this will indeed become my Local!

I was here on a Friday night and it was really good fun. The staff are friendly, great selection of drinks and not overpriced – despite the classy decor. This place has a great feel to it.

A great place to come and enjoy a few drinks with friends and enjoy a wonderful meal! The food here is outstanding!! I would recommend either having a selection of their tapas…..pork belly is an absolute must as is the tempura mushroom and tofu and salt and pepper squid!!! I have also enjoyed an amazing meal off their al a carte menu, check out the cheesecake, its not what you would expect!!! All I can say is the chef here is definitely talented!! Add in the very friendly service and your in for a fab night!! Definitely worth making this your new local!!

A great spot for a few drinks and something to eat. The best idea is to order a few things to share. The calamari is to die for!
