The Horse and Trap team prides itself on opening its first North Island Montieths Bar to continue the tradition of providing a venue with great environment and excellent service matched with a fantastic Craft Range of Monteith’s Beers.The Horse and Trap offers an extensive menu designed to match the varied tastes of Monteith’s and is available from opening to closing time, 7 days of the week. Our quiz nights have been running every Tuesday for 8 years where you can win up to $100 for the main quiz and if you are lucky to get to our jackpot round you will win to up $250. For all your private or corporate function and venue hire needs we can offer you a purpose built function room to accommodate a party from 20 to 200 guests. Just Email us saying “Function package required” and we will get back to you with a function package to best suit your requirements.

by Lisa 19th March 2013: We have frequented the Horse and Trap over the years and have had no reason to complain until our last visit.
The service was so slow, and everything is overpriced, we had to wait half an hour for half a bowl of fries, that cost the best part of $10. We won’t be back again.

by Angela M. 12th January 2013: I love the Horse and Trap. I used to go the pub quizz every Tuesday night and would often order meals before the quizz. Have never experienced anything other than good service and great meals there. Most recently had dinner there a couple of months ago with my husband before heading to the Powerstation for a gig. I thoroughly enjoyed the salt and pepper squid so much that we went back with our teenage sons for dinner a few weeks later. As expected, we all enjoyed our meals. Thanks Horse and Trap. We’ll see you next time!
by Jess C. 23rd July 2012: Love the H & T. Great food, great beer, lovely atmosphere but agree that the staff have little interest in anything and are fairly robotic and blank – and I go there a lot…still, you don;t go for the staff chat everything else makes it worth it.
by Leah 17th August 2010: Rubbish service, snooty bar tenders and the staff just seem to have no interest in you or your order. Bar got our drinks and entreés wrong 3 times (there was only 3 of us), so we paid and left. Beautiful decor, so hey, at least you’ve got one thing going.
