Reviews for Kings Garden Cafe
by Maureen R.
20th January 2014
We lunched at Kings Cafe last week, as a large Probus group of 51of us, a huge call for the staff, who did an amazing job of getting out all our hot meals in excellent time….The food was delicious, with a wide choice, both from kitchen and cabinet…..thank you Kings staff…..

Perfect!!! Delicious coffee, great food and presentation, yummy cakes and professional service!!
I visited Kings Cafe for the first time despite some negative reviews on here and I am so glad I did! I visited with my family and it was a lovely atmosphere, we were all very happy with what we ordered. I had the eggs Benedict with salmon and it was perfect! The eggs were cooked perfectly, not too hard and not too runny, the bread was fresh and the salmon also.
I am quite fussy with my coffee but this coffee was delicious, I was very happy! We will definitely be visiting again!

I have heard about this cafe through some friends and decided to try it out. I have to confess that, I was so glad I dcided to check thiks place out. The coffee was awesome and the french toast was one of gthe best I have ever had and I love my French toast. But, what impressed me the most was the service and how polkite the staff were. I also very impressed with the display cabinet so much varfiety to choose from. I will certainly be back and will tell all my friends about this wonderful cafe

Called in earlier in the week for a quick snack and coffee, ended up having their spicy chicken and mango salad – delicious. Their cake and cabinet selection looked great but I was full from the salad. Love their coffee – nice and smooth.

Loved the covered outdoor setting, cool and airy on a hot day. And a well equipped play pen for little one. Meant my daughter and I could enjoy our coffee break reasonably in peace. The flat white was delicious and my mushroom and bacon quiche accompanied with salad was delightfully moreish. Staff sweet, pleasant and prompt!

Lovely setting and great coffee (and I’m a fussy coffee connoisseur)…I had the Chicken salad and it was about as delicious as I’ve had anywhere…would highly recommend and definitely return. Staff were friendly and helpful too!

Almost got one star…
Food was bad. Just bad. Bacon mushroom quiche turned out to be a tasteless microwaved bacon and kumara egg thing, dry, tasteless and not what was promised.
The ungrilled, slightly warm calamari was served on rocket, and then drenched in a sickly sweet dressing. There was maybe a half a cup on there… it was like a soup.
I’ve supported this place for years, but now it’s just too bad and I wont be back.

Dreadful breakfast – got eggs benedict which looked terrible before I even started – bread barely toasted, processed bacon and when I cut into egg it was full of water which went all over my plate making my warmed bread soggy. The hollandaise sauce was not nice. Hubby had big breakfast – bread not toasted at all, processed bacon and mushrooms that were like rubber – both meals cold and to top off they got our drinks wrong.

Just awful, they can’t make good coffee, the bacon is highly processed and over cooked. The staff made errors taking the order. The location is OK with parking and Kings is a nice Garden Centre. There are lots of cafes in the eastern suburbs of Auckland so no need to return.

Excellent coffee and plenty of smiling faces and good service. I love a big breakfast and I bought the biggest – to be disappointed. It was well presented on a filled plate, but the bacon wasn’t bacon – as advertised – far from it – it wasn’t even ham. The meat came from the shoulder of the pig and had been processed into what many people would think was ham. It wasn’t bacon. Don’t they make bacon any more? I guess if I want bacon I need to eat elsewhere. Sad really.

I always enjoying popping in here. Nice outdoor area on a sunny day. Good coffee and food. Most enjoyable after a walk around Orakei Basin http://walksinauckland…

Went over the weekend on a beautiful sat afternoon
with my husband ….. we were welcome with smiles
the setting is simply beautiful as it is the garden center
to my surprise they have a huge sitting area and a huge selection of cabin food and menu food ……
we ordered egg Benedict’s that was outstanding
Ihad coffee and was very pleased and my husband had a wine with his food
the staff eas very friendly and owner has a very pleasing personality … it was great chatting with him and knowing that they roast their own coffee

visited on a Friday lunch time, Lucky to get a seat in the court yard overlooking the sea to make the most of the spring sunshine.
using out voucher we ordered a cajun chicken salad, which came with hot strips of tasty chicken and fresh greens and slices of mango. My friend ordered pumpkin and feta salad with grain bread, which was nicely presented. Coffee was average.
Staff were busy, and brought everything swiftly but a few smiles would of been appreciated.
Would return again, without a voucher.

Went here in the weekend, using a voucher and was very impressed! I had a turkish style breakfast which was super tasty. My Mum had the mushrooms on toast, they came with home made hashbrowns and delicious grain toast. Coffee was ok. I haven’t given them 5 stars because the ambiance wasn’t great. Food in the cabinet looked delicious too!
