When I first started working in Parnell back in 2002 I had the honour of discovering the Italian jewel of La Bocca first time I had a meal there I fell in love with the place
sad to say have not been there in a long time looking forward to seeing if the memories are still the same

My partner and I went to ‘La Bocca’ a fair while back as we bought vouchers from a deal website that enabled us to get $40 worth for $20 I think it was. I ordered the Lamb shanks and my partner had the fillet. I would have to say it was some of the best lamb I had eaten in a long time, perfectly seasoned and cooked nicely. My partners fillet was also cooked perfectly to the medium rare that he likes, all vegetables were tasty and cooked perfectly too.
The service was fantastic, we had a nice seat as we had booked in advance, it is a very tiny place though. But the lack of space is very much made up for in the food, service and atmosphere. Upon finishing our mains we were asked if we would like dessert and they were kind enough to allow us to take away a serving of Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was one if not the best I have ever tasted, brilliant taste and beautiful looking.
La Bocca is defnitely a place I would love to visit again! I am so glad we bought the vouchers we got as we got an affordable experience. And to be honest I would be happy to pay the full price for everything I had!!

I dined here with a friend last night, and we loved it! The place was lovely and cosy. The pasta dishes were absolutely delicious. My one was so creamy, with beautifully cooked pieces of chicken, bacon and mushroom. For dessert we had the chocolate cake, which we both agreed could have been much better. But overall, we had a lovely experience at La Bocca and we would happily recommend this restaurant.

The service was excellent from the moment we entered the premises to the time that we left and the atmosphere was great. Our meals were delicious and the deserts (tiramisu in particular) were superb. Would highly recommend.

We have eaten here before and have enjoyed it. However, the most recent experience was appalling. Having phoned the night before to book for 6 people, no booking was noted. A table was hastily arranged outside… and then we were forgotten. Having finally arrived to take our orders, the waitress then returned and advised half of them were unavailable. The starters were an embarrassment in front of overseas visitors – rubbery, unfresh mussels, overcooked scallops that smelt fishy. The fish (hapuka) was then unavailable, then all of a sudden available again, yet on arrival it was not hapuka. Meals were not served together, and the 4 desserts arrived over about 15 minutes. As someone who has lived in Italy for a number of years, and whose guests live there now, I can say that there is nothing authentically Italian about La Bocca other than the name. An absolute disgrace!!

Small, intimate restaurant, true to the Italian style. Every dish is amazing, best bruschetta and tiramisu I’ve ever had, return time and time again and take all my friends there who end up loving it. Generous portions and friendly staff. Highly recommended

Dinner with a group on a Saturday night… have dined here before and returned again! Food at La Bocca is outstanding, from pasta to fish and desserts. Good sizes and beautifully presented.
