Very pleasing Cafe which stands out in Ellerslie for the following reasons:
- Friendly and chatty staff, the barista was particularly warm and inviting.
- Fresh and outside-the-square cafe menu (part of it is dedicated to low calorie super delicious and healthy options).
- Bright and relaxed decor and open space which seems particularly child friendly as there is a separate play area (which keeps EVERYONE happy, heh).
Overall a winner in Ellerslie and I will be returning shortly for sure as they also do dinners

Come across a lovely cafe in Ellerslie (Mondo Cafe) and was really impressed with the coffee and customer service. I was told they recently switched coffee beans from gravity to ALLPRESS. All time favourite coffee and which i recommend. Mondo cafe have a good variety of choices on the menu with healthy options avaliable. The “Moroccan chicken salad” was superb. Good work guys i will definitely be returning when back in the area.

Brilliant food, great cafe decoration, friendly service, not perfect but u can tell they r trying their best. What more can u ask? Maybe a big menu with more choice, which I was told it is coming mid Nov. I will put another review once I tried the new menu. Overall recommended place for a nice releax brunch!

Overall Rating – Crap service and yesterday’s leftover sandwiches.
We paid money for a hot brunch but we never got our food! They would not refund our money. Instead, we were offered cold, dried up cabinet food. No thanks!
This is more than unfair or dishonest, this is theft!
The unhelpful manager told my husband to “go speak to John Key if you don’t like the service!!”
We liked the new makeover and the staff are lovely but the portion sizes are dwindling and the owner’s loyalty to customers is nonexistent.
Don’t expect much from these guys…you will be disappointed and they will rip you off.

I and my family went to Mondo Cafe after a long time and we were surprised to see and feel the new look of the cafe, also great food and service provided by their staff although the cafe was so busy yet the service and food were fantastic. The new owner was very friendly and I look forward going back again.

The Mondo team did themselves a terrible disservice today. We had deal vouchers which required a booking. Were told they were fully booked but we could try and luck and just show up, which is what we did; FUNNY: the place was near empty and yet once seated another group was also turned away as “They were fully booked” No-one else arrived. A near empty cafe; great food, not so great service; dreadful phone manner. Won’t go back. Don’t subscribe to a voucher programme if you are not willing to honour them.

Last week I had bought lunch at Mondo and the food is good. However the person that served me had a very old looking bandaid on their finger which was black at either end and frayed which was extremely off-putting when one is buying food. Perhaps some attention to detail wouldn’t go a miss here.

Me and my wife had brunch at Mondo last Saturday. I had chicken tower which was nice and I love the aioli. My wife had french toast and she enjoyed that. We both liked the mix berry smoothies. Good service, friendly staff and nice & warm inside. Good decoration. We will go back again.

Definitely much better experience compare to last year.Nice, clean and bright atmosphere. Nice and friendly staff. Excellent coffee and food. Overall come back experience.

We had brunch here on a busy Sunday morning, ordering a banana smoothie, chai latte, hot chocolate and meals. The banana smoothie was very good, and both hot drinks above average. I ordered the eggs benedict with salmon and found this to be very good. The eggs were poached well, and there was a generous serving of hollandaise and smoked salmon. The other meal ordered was the Chicken Tower Foccacia served with fries, which was happily devoured. Service was good, considering the cafe was quite busy. The only negative was that the food cabinet wasn’t overly appealing.. otherwise we had a good brunch.

We dined there last saturday, I had the french toast, in the menu it said it came with whipped cream and fresh fruit, I received it without cream and a slice of orange, it was very average with a hardly any syrup 4/10
My partner ordered the big breakfast which stated 4 sausages, 4 pieces of bacon and foccacia bread, she also ordered hard poached eggs – she received 3 sausages, 2 bits of bacon on normal sliced bread, the eggs were also runny!!! so back went the eggs and bread which came out correct the second time. 3/10, apparently the mushrooms were quite nice though.
This whole time our coffees hadn’t arrived, they had forgotten!! didn’t arrive till after we had eaten, there were probably no more than 5 other customers in the whole place.
Overall crap service and crap food, the staff were friendly enough just not very good at their jobs, do yourself a favour and go to colombus coffee just down the road, they’re a million times better with way better food and service.

We were here for Brunch and rate Mondo 4 1/2 Stars. Great service, coffee above average, crispy bacon the way we like it and superb mushrooms. Don’t change the mushrooms, we will return.

Brunched today at 1 p.m.
Food & Service excellent.
Found it hard to justify only ticking 4 Stars.(No one can be 100% perfect).
Finally thought of one. Was only given one menu between the two of us. (I know I could have asked for two. But I reasoned it was not all that important)

Mondo gets a big tick for opening up before any other cafe Ellerslie. I was there at 6.45. Coffee was good, scrambled eggs w bacon were generous, but not particularly tasty. Diningroom pretty average and not particularly clean. Prices OK $16.90 for my brekky & coffee. I think I’ll wait for another cafe to open next time.

I was in Mondo just prior to Christmas 08. I was with some friends and we had a lovely lunch. Great selection and friendly staff.

The service was awful, had to wait to be served ordered our food and waited for another 20 mins for breakfast. They were all to busy getting food ready to send out. The food was not that nice for the price you pay.

I didn’t think it was anything special. Service was good, food was ok, bit pricey for the portions. i would only go if someone else is paying.

I hadn’t been to Elerslie for years and was surprised at how much it has developed. I went to Mondo with a few friends and we were all impressed with the menu as there was something for everyone. Definitely good value for money and we will definitely be going back.

Well I have been to better cafes. The coffee was average and the service, well it was nothing to write home about. I will only go if someone else was paying.
