Awesome cafe! Not only do they cook organic but all their meat and eggs are also free-range. Their food is delicious and obviously made with a lot of care. I recommend their rum sautéed French toast or their bacon and mozzarella omelette, as both are favourites!
I work in hospitality and as a result I am very fussy about food, so far I have only good things to say about this cafe.
Did I mention they even make their own hollandaise? YUM.

Fantastic food, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Nutmeg is a great cafe with a wide selection of inventive cold salads and sandwiches to yummy hot meals, homemade baked goods, smoothies, etc. with a focus on organic. If I sound like a Nutmeg cheerleader, I am! It’s one of my favorite cafes in Auckland!

Totally loved my salt & pepper calamari (had delicious aioli and leafy mesculin to accompany it, which was delicious with fresh lemon I squeezed on). Spiced apple cake for dessert was SO good. The team invented a cheese toastie for my preschooler, which was made of delicious healthy wholegrain bread, and she loved it. Her dessert was a wholemeal date muffin, which again, she absolutely devoured. I love that they have such healthy AND delicious food here! Great job. Friendly staff too. Parking was really easy.

Good food, very friendly staff. Was pretty quiet when we went on a sunday morning but livened up around 10 o’clock.
Coffee was okay, prices are pretty fair too, considering everything is organic.

I enjoyed a very pleasant lunch here. Really friendly helpful manager, who got me some extra yoghurt to accompany my tasty veg quesadilla.

Beautiful coffee – made just right for my tastes.

I got the best table in the house, I reckon – a 2 seater at the front glass window, which caught some lunchtime sun.

I found the cafe very light, sunny, and peaceful. It was a great place to take time to chill out and read the Herald.

Parking was free and exceptionally easy – located just up the road behind the block of shops on Newmarket end of Remuera Rd, where this cafe sits. I bypassed another cafe by that carpark to get to this one, because I saw Nutmeg promoting its organic leanings online.

My one recommendation would be to provide some more clarification to customers about which items are organic, or ‘spray free’ etc, and which are not. Even just a few asterisks on the blackboard or printed menu would be nice.

All in all, a great wee spot that would be easy to miss if you didn’t know it was there! Glad I hunted it out.

Used a deal voucher at Nutmeg today. Good service, clean and tidy cafe. Coffee (we had lattes) was very good, not bitter and the best coffee I’ve had for a while!

Our food was also great. I had the pancakes which were nicely cooked and presented.

Would go again. Thanks!

So good to have another nice organic option in Auckland. Food was super yummy and service very nice – could have just been a little more attentive refilling water, or just put a bottle on the table.

First time we went to this cafe even though we live close by. We were pleasantly surprised. Really good organic food and great coffee. We had the scrabbled eggs with hot smoked salmon on brioche and the big breakfast with sausage. Both tasted delicious. We will certainly go there again.

One of our favorite places. They make the best porridge of any cafe around and the food is always top notch, fresh, well presented and organic. Coffee (Icoco organic) is best of anywhere around.

An excellent cafe with top notch service.
The meals are as delicious as they sound, and are always presented beautifully.
The homemade cakes are a special treat – must try the gluten-free brownie if you get a chance!

Nutmeg do the job of creating a simple fresh and tasty breakfast menu well. They also can brew a fine coffee.

I can recommend the mince on toast with a poach egg.

We will be heading back.

We’ve eaten here a few times and have always enjoyed the food and quick service. They have lots of organic and gluten free options, the cooked breakfasts are great (try the pancakes!).

I went into Nutmeg for a change (a cafe I usually go to had nothing I wanted in the cabinet) and was very glad I did!

The service was fabulous! I was asked if I wanted a glass of water as I sat and waited for my takeaway coffee and bagel.

I was very impressed by the look of the menu with plenty of organic and vegetarian choices and wished I’d had more time to stay an dine.

My roast vege bagel was delicious and everyone at work asked where I’d got it from!

Will visit again

In a city riddled with mediocre cafes and food, Nutmeg stands out as a sunny, inviting and trendy place to be with ample menu choices from the classics to specialties for dietary restrictions.

The food is fresh and simply delicious. Whether I’m going in for a quick coffee and home-made brownie or a full kiwi breakfast and salads to take home, I am never disappointed. I will continue to recommend this place until the chef-owners move on. Then I will too.

The owners are welcoming and capable of handling all sorts of diets and tastes. Everything here tastes like it’s made with care and enthusiasm. The flavours are fantastic and you walk out feeling nourished but not like you’ve been overladen with fat and sugar.
Their soups and salads rate special mention ( let’s not get started on the delicious fudge and cakes!)
