Its 26/04/13, 8:46am. The service is awesome. So is the coffee. So is the chicken liver bacon and poached egg on toasted sour dough with caramelised apple & walnuts I just had. The coffee guy & the lady serving tables are both very polite and attentive, even though it’s been a pretty busy morning in here. Highly recommended.

A few work colleagues and I went Penelope on Friday. I had the roasted pumpkin, lentil and marinated chicken salad for $20 which I would recommend. The menu is interesting and the customer service was extremely good. My colleague ordered the eggs benedict with salmon and although she enjoyed it I thought it looked quite average. I will be back though!

I suggested brunch here with a few friends and regretted it. I was charged $8.00 for two plain pieces of store bought gluten free toast – with butter! Ridiculous! My latte was bland. My friends meals were “mediocre” but nothing special.

Best coffee that I have had in a long time and which ever barista is on the coffee is consistent that there love that I can get coffee that is the same quality every time

Recently I chose Penelope’s when we simply parked on Parnell Rise right outside, so in we went. What a treat it was. Everything about Penelope’s is excellent. The decor, the friendly and professional staff, the fine food and great tasting coffee!! We are such fussy eaters and we have very high expectations and are often disappointed. But not here, our expectations were exceeded in every category. In fact we were based in Albany for the following four days and we drove back each morning for breakfast at Penelope’s and that’s quite a trek for those who won’t know. My wife and I are back in town so will be over tomorrow morning for a breakfast treat I’m sure. Don’t hesitate, Just do it!!!!

I have visited Penelope’s twice now and both times the coffee was fantastic with the best presentation I have seen (it’s worth buying a coffee just for the latte art alone).
I had the carrot cake which was divine and the service on both occasions was fantastic. Go to Penelope, you wont be disappointed.

This is excellent cafe and restaurant. Great attention to detail and varied and interesting menu. Very attentive service and you are always welcomed on arrival. The Coffee is first class and for tea drinkers the cup is presented on a wooden tray. Fantastic coffee ! Try them, say hello to Adam – you will return.

I went to this lovely cafe twice over one weekend and got the same friendly, helpful service both times. The staff even offered to help me get a bus card!
The decor is great but the food is even better. On the second day I tried the chicken liver dish. Perfect! Egg cooked to perfection, toast just right and the chicken liver/pear combination was to die for. Great to have something a bit different on offer for breakfast. This chef will go far.
The staff are clearly proud and happy in their work and they deserve to be.

I heard about Penelope from a friend who highly recommended it. I had to try it for myself first.. and it was great!!
The staff are friendly, and the coffee is excellent!! Especially the latte art, superb.
I’ll be back for sure.
try it, you won’t be disappointed!

Second time here.. Service was flawless, you can tell that the owner is truly dedicated and passionate. Food was outstanding, the man had eggs bene and I had smashed avo with a side of bacon, which I requested to be crispy and it was perfect.. Only reason they aren’t getting 5 stars is the coffee, perfectly made, creamy and hot. But I’m just not an Altura fan, I feel the cafe would be more suited to supreme or roasted addiction. Never the less we will be back.
My new favourite cafe.. never fails to deliver.. Altura is growing on me and the staff are super friendly. food is always outstanding, try the puy lentil salad for a healthy but filling brunch. Markie recommends the squid salad and he is VERY fussy about his squid! I’m yet to try their muffins and other cabinet treats but my sources say the muffins are packed full of blueberries. See you next week Adam.
