I don’t know how they do it, but Ragu manages to make my husband and I feel like we are on a date while our three year old runs riot in the kids playroom. The food is fantastic and affordable, with a great adult atmosphere and dimmed lights for dinner. Have also popped in for the odd afternoon beer and fries. A great Pt Chev local.

I’ve been there few times and it is always very nice. The staff is always nice, the food is good and they have good prices.

Great atmosphere for eating, drinking or both. Warm and friendly without being “in your face” and not “over the top” – just enough to make you feel welcome and looked after. The food is delicious. The bar staff have amazing knowledge on wines to recommend or beers. We go there a lot as it is so easy as well.

Went here back in Feb. I had mis-judged this place. Living locally and not giving it a second glance.

Decided would try it out. Felt like I walked into a bar in Parnell. My friend and I just got 2 beers each and some Tapas. Highly recommend this place and certainly would go back again.

Also the Staff were AMAZING. (Which you dont get all that often)

Finally, a good local restaurant you take the kids to.

Great food, good service, nice ambience. Not cheap (but no more than Lone Star) and a decent size.

The kids play room was inspired, our 2 year old daughter loved it and didn’t want to leave.

I had the beetroot salad – delicious, decent size – and my wife had the chicken and gnocchi, also delicious. My date and apple pudding was gorgeous, my wife’s brulee also great.

We’ll be back again soon.

We have been here 4 times now and have found the food excellent and the staff friendly and fast. No hesitation in recommending this place for a great meal and or a quiet drink with small plates, try the onion rings not something I would normally consider but they were fought over and more ordered.

Without ordering the fantastic onion rings this time, I would have to say that our meal tonight was only average. We went for a tapas selection, and was impressed by the friendliness of the wait staff and the quick arrival of our dishes. However, the food had a reheated feel – for instance, the Kerala prawns came with what looked and tasted like recycled roast potatoes, dry and shrivelled. The koftas were just kind of boring. The goat’s cheese croquette was tasty enough, but more hard than crispy on the outside. Wouldn’t recommend going out of your way for food here, but this would be a nice venue for a drink and bar snacks (thinking onion rings!)

Our favourite restaurant. Great food, especially the lamb The staff are friendly staff and atmosphere is just right – a mix of bar and eating. One evening all the tables were taken so we sat at the bar high tables – no problems. The service is quick and right sized portions of food. Make sure you have one of their desserts.

Ragu was a great experience. The food was amazing and prices fair. A great wine list and fantastic service. THere is a kids room too – a place you can take kids and still enjoy the feeling of being at a restaurant for grown ups. Thumbs up!

On Saturday we went to Ragu to catch up with friends. As you know it is hard to find a place that you can take your kids and actually relax while keeping them entertained. Hallelujah we found it – they had a kids corner in the early evening where the little people can entertain themselves. The best part was they had a kids corner manager (Sharmian) who I found out later was one of the owners 11yr old daughters. So we could feed the kids (meal and ice-cream $10 bargain!) and enjoy quality restaurant food and service ourselves. The staff are so kiddy friendly too. What a find, will definitely be back.

i’ve been going to ragu regularly for almost a year, love the atmosphere, great winelist, tasty food & friendly service.as we tend to hang out in the cosy bar,i wasn’t familiar with the dining area, let alone the fact that they have a private room upstairs!i’d been badgered by friends about my impending 40th & when i asked at ragu if i could have a few drinks in the bar, they told me about the private room.to cut a long story short, the night was fantastic.the estimated guest list of 20 swelled to 30,we had our own bar & staff, tasty food arrived regularly & no room charge (crazy),a cash bar,so guests felt happy ordering what they wanted over & above my selection, everybody had a great time. i love this place!

Took my husband here for his birthday last night. Fabulous service, friendly but not obtrusive. A good selection of options on the menu. We both loved our mains and desserts. I am a vegetarian, and was happy with the choices offered. Good wines, too.

Service and ambience was really good. Food however was a bit disappointing. Maybe it’s still finding its feet.

We had seen Ragu had opened and decided to try it last night (it is walking distance from our house!) and were pleasantly surprised at how busy and buzzing it was.
We started with a tasty bruscetta, and a very nice glass of wine. For our main we enjoyed mushroom risotto with big slices of portobello mushroom, and beef stew, which was reportedly delicious.
We indulged with dessert and had apple crumble and chocolate brownie, both yummy!
The greeting as we arrived and the service throughout were excellent, friendly and very attentive.
We are so glad to find such a gem of a place in our neighbourhood and will definitely return soon.

As a Pt Chev local with kids we’re not exactly spoilt for choice for eateries that don’t involve harsh neon lights & menus that don’t start with nuggets. However we’ve just eaten at Ragu, a newly opened restaurant on Pt Chev road (opposite the library). The service was absolutely outstanding with the kids welcome & well catered for. The food was lovely with a selection of Tapers or traditional mains from a variety of international cuisine styles. Can highly recommend the Lamb Confit salad, risotto balls, the coftas, and the sesame squid. We will definitely be going back for more. They have a designated kids area on weekends so adults can enjoy a moment of peace – YAY.
