Soul Kitchen delivers the ‘best’ creamy mushrooms on Waiheke Island.

I also like the way everything is home made and my vegan daughter and vegetarian husband are catered for.

I ate at Nourish and was a big fan. Soul Kitchen sadly is a completely different beast. They served me Eggs Benedict with bread sodden with water dripped from the overlooked spinach on top, and bizarrely tasteless, dry salmon flakes (also very overlooked). Nor was the stone cold hollandais any more pleasant. At least the eggs were ok.

I left most of the food and have never been back. If they don’t get a better chef then I don’t think Soul Kitchen will last a year.

Formerly the site of Nourish cafe which was famous in it’s own right, soul kitchen has taken over as a close contender, carrying on the tradition of using good fresh local produce at the fraction of the cost of the former nourish!

Staff are warm and welcoming, fantastic smooth organic coffee, and a safe but fare menu.

Looking forward to seeing this cafe go from strength to strength in the summer, if they do it right, they will keep the prices right, they won’t go wrong
