I went to this restaurant as I bought coupons for it online. After reading such rave reviews I was really excited to try it out. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. The food arrived 50 mins after ordering, one of the items we ordered did not even arrive until we reminded them. We had to ask for water and napkins. The service was very very poor. The hostess then made excuses in regard to why the food was late and none of which was believable. The food was very average. The meat dishes were good, but the vegetarian dishes was very bald and sweet tasting. Not authentic at all. Really disappointed.

We were a group of 4 adults and 4 children (including one child who didn’t like or eat curries!) looking for somewhere to eat before a Blues rugby game. We were warmly welcomed, in fact the service was awesome, a relaxed dining evening with the kids. The curries were the best that we have had and even the child who didn’t eat curry can’t wait to have her next meal there! Great prices also

I went here for dinner last week and the food was really good! I like my curries with plenty of gravy so I can soak it up with basmati rice and naan, which I did. And the naan was better than the usual naans I’ve had before, crispy but not hard like the person mentioned above. I guess the only problem was not having a napkin, so I just asked, not a big deal. Thanks I’ll be returning soon and hopefully get a similar meal with lots of gravy

We went there as a group of 8. We were seated on first floor. Beautifully decorated room with a view of Eden park. We ordered assorted entrees. My mixed platter was well decorated with tangy tamarind and mint sauce….brilliant.
Followed array of food…all looked delicious, I had ordered Balti chicken, was served in copper bucket…looked beautiful…equally it was delicious. We had a great time…..service was excellent, well looked after and was prompt with drinks…
Only downside for upstair was it’s was little hot. We asked our host and she said they are in process of installing heat pump/cooler for upstair.
We will be back with larger group. Thanks a lot for wonderful food and service…keep it up.

Do not go to the Indian Restaurant on Sandringham Road called “Spicy Affair”. I’ve been there twice for takeaway curry and naan bread, and both times, the naan was almost as solid as a rock, and the curry was as oily as crap. also, they didn’t seal the curry container properly last night when I went there after work, so my curry went all through the plastic bag, so i didn’t get my dinner in the end. What a waste of money and sitting round waiting for my food! Also, lucky the plastic bag didn’t have any holes in it, or the curry would’ve gone all over me while sitting on the bus to go home!

The Spicy Affair serves the most delicious Indian food! My partner and I have been there serveral times already. Each curry we’ve had, has been as lovely as the last. The service is great. Restaurant very clean and welcoming. My favourites so far are Chicken Pondichery, Rogan Josh and Bombay Aloo. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!

Great food……best curry in town.
We had new dish called chicken bomballa….. It was served in unsusal serving dish (quite nice).
Just beware that this dish comes with bone in and has strong flavor little bit on spicy side.
Highly recommended.
