The restaurant is fairly new but I’ve eaten here at least once week since it opened for lunch or dinner, prices are moderate, service is good, but food is best I’ve had in terms of Korean. I’d recommend their teriyaki chicken, bulgogi, spicy beef, spicy squid, I’m slowly working my way through menu but I haven’t been disappointed yet
. If your in Newmarket I’d recommend you give them a try.

Dined at Tan Restaurant quite a few times now and have always enjoyed this place. I like the new BBQ buffet menu, gives you a lot of options and the freedom to select & cook your food at your own pace. Salads, soups and side dishes available along with a range of meats & seafoods and different sauces for dipping available too. Staff are pleasant and all English speakers. Great place for larger group dining as there is plenty of room to move around. If you’re looking to try a different type of cuisine, give Tan a go!!

I was looking for a restaurant to take my son out for dinner,so I ask the owner of the apartment where we currently staying so he recommended TAN restaurant …In fact, he’s Korean( the apartment owner)…My family loves korean cuisine ..Well, services were excellent and its a very clean place…Oh! the food was perfect and we both enjoyed every minutes of it..I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves to explore & taste different cuisine…
The prices are reasonable and its a great place to take families & friends coz you can just enjoy each others companies while preparing your own meal…Thank you guys!…..Regina

We were looking to take our grandchildren out to somewhere different, as like many of our lucky kids these days they have been to many restaurants. We all enjoyed the experience with lots of novel involvement in preparing your own meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The price was very cheap for Auckland and I would recommend the Tan Restaurant to you to try, we will certainly take friends back to experience the restaurant. Thanks.
PS T he Grandchildren wanted dessert which the Tan does not offer. So we took them around the corner to the Cock and Bull for dessert and coffee which cost more than the whole meal at the Tan. Ask about their parking.

My best friend and I made a delicious new food discovery at this new Korean place: Korean pancakes. We both love the way Korean’s do their vegetables, so the mungbean pancake with a special sauce was just perfect for us to share, and very filling.
Our waiter was simply excellent: he could see us deliberating over the big range of dishes, so he came over and helpfully steered us towards a few positive options. He said the Korean pancake (loaded with seafood – though it doesn’t mention this on the menu) is their biggest seller.
We also shared a Korean-style chicken teriyaki which I adored. And one of our fave things about Korean is always the limitless refills of tasty sides…
One major recommendation is that they need to get a stylist/decorator in to soften the space with some furnishings, and dampen the stark accoustics. Plus, perhaps Justin Bieber ‘Baby, Baby’ and Queen’s “I want to ride my bicycle” are not the right mix for dinner background music! LOL! Funny though
I rang ahead to ask where to park, and they have 4 secret carparks in the drive right next door… so we were early enough to get a park there which was great.
So in conclusion: excellent, authentic Korean food, and fantastic service make it well worthwhile.
