This is my favourite restaurant in Wellington! I don’t know what the negative review below is talking about – I have been to this place about 20 times and the food and service is always outstanding and prices very reasonable. Recently I brought a large party of about 15 people to the restaurant on short notice and they coped very well. Their palak paneer is the best I have tasted in NZ! My family is vegetarian and we love Curry Pot’s vege options like Baigan Masala and Dal Makhani. This is an excellent place, I can’t recommend it too highly!

For the second time we brought a voucher for two meals at the curry pot. The first time it was fantastic. The second time, tonight was AWFUL. My partner returned home for me to find traffic light orange chicken tikka marsala and a bright green lamb nilgiri. I thought what the hay and gave them a taste as looks can be deceiving. The tikka marsala was nothing like we are used to. ( my partner and I use the chicken tikka marsala as a marker of how good a place is) It tasted like a weak butter chicken. no flavour. It should be jumping with fresh coriander, ginger, chilli, garlic and garam masala. Nothing. Boneless?? bones scattered throughout the curry. The lamb curry was a step better but still disappointing. The lamb was very tender if you could find any. The ginger was fresh tasting but completely over powered it. The two plain nann’s were thin but not over cooked. I know we had a voucher and that we paid half price but we are the people that they should really be trying to please as we will NOT be returning to pay full price. You really need to pick up your standards ‘Curry Pot’ as there are plenty of better Indian restaurants close by.

Having food in this restaurant is like anything. Such a wonderful meal I had today it was malai kofta and garlic naan.Staff over there is too friendly and nice. They treat their customer really well.I will definitely go there again and would like to recommend to everyone.

Great restaurant serving South Indian cuisine! Its not easy to find South Indian restaurants serving Dosa and Vada so we were delighted when we found this place. The food, service settings were good..lovely Vadas and Masala Dosa! The only thing is – the venue may not be instantly recognisable, we found it by chance. Would gladly recommend this place to anyone.

Finding a good Indian restaurant is much like finding a good Fish n’ chip shop that you will continue to give your patronage to. You never let go of them once you have found them. I have found my diamond in the rough. The Curry Pot! Attentive and friendly service with a smile, the owner went out of his way to make us comfortable and explored the menu with us, guiding us along the way. My partners in crime went for the Goan Fish dish, Dosai whilst I had the Dahl Palak. Starters and mains were inhaled rather quickly and there wasn’t much conversation over dinner, other than lots of mmmmmm, yummmm, mmmmm. The Maharaja beer too was refreshing and was the perfect compliment to our meals. Tap water a little less desirable I must say, but this place is definitely worth 5 stars. A hidden jem in Riddiford street that deserves a lot of praise. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
