Reviews for Thien Thai Restaurant

The meals were fresh tasting, although seems a little on the small side. Don’t order the Roti; they are so small it’s not worth it. Smallest I’ve seen ever. The satay sauce that comes with them however is delish!
Service was average, the older guy (manager?) was pleasant enough but the young lady and boy were shy. Not unpleasant just shy.
We were not asked for drinks so my partner who intended ordering a glass of wine didn’t.
It’s disappointing that Asian cuisine has caught up with European in charging for everything. It should be a given that you get rice with your main unless it’s a rice or noodle dish. Rice is so cheap to buy, does it need to be charged for? I’d rather see an extra 50c added to the price of main and have “rice for the table”. Price was reasonable for the rice though.
Cost was on the higher side for the mains considering the meals seemed very small.
I’ve been to four Thai restaurants in the Napier area in the last few months, this would sit at number 4.

Every time we visit Napier we eat at this Thai restaurant. Looking from the outside it does not exude good street appeal. However the food and service quickly eliminate these first impressions. Sadly I have yet to really explore their menu as I always order the same thing – the Red Duck Curry. It is by far the best duck curry I have eaten. The sauce is thick and flavoursome with a good zing to it. Plenty of duck and vegetables. Service is always warm and friendly and we never have to wait too long for our food. The place is well patronised which is indicative of a local favourite. Can’t wait for our next trip to Napier, I will definitely be having the duck again.

Hi went to this restaurant this evening. Friendly waitress who was extremely attentive from the moment we walked in – beautiful traditional dress. Our flowers on the table were plastic and had been singed by a candle. BUT the food was top notch, the prices were really reasonable and the flavour of the foods was really the best. It was the best fisherman’s basket Thai style that I’ve ever had. The dishes and cutlery were beautiful and Thai styled. The pricing was extremely reasonable we will definitely go here from now on. Only things that I could say that could make the place better would be the front door – it’s really hard to open, maybe paint the walls white or brighten things up a little, some light Thai music in the background – a verbal Thai greeting as you enter or leave that sort of thing just elevates a place in my eyes – but I would have to say this is the BEST Thai restaurant we think in Hawke’s Bay.

Great food, excellent and speedy service in a full-house on a Saturday night. Recommended.

Wandering down Marine Parade to find somewhere to have dinner, and what a good find we came across!! Excellent food, lovely extensive menu and not too pricey which is always a bonus! If you are in napier and want a good thai, this is the one to go for!! Thanks

An on the spur of the moment decision to eat here one night turned out to be a delight. The place was about 90% full which isn’t a lot as the place is rather cosy but still not cramped like so many small places can be. Anyway the two waitresses we out of this world, quick efficient and they still had the time to explain the dishes to customers, clear table, seat new diners and take payment. Then the food. I have eaten Thai food in many countries and Thailand also and all I can say is they offer a authentic Thai dining experience on the Parade in Napier. Excellent food, excellent service and very reasonably priced.
