I worked nearby so I end up visiting this place once in a while. Good portions for the price, has very heavy flavors and is good comfort food.
Usually order the nasi goreng, terasi noodles, or the soto betawai (curry soup kind of dish) if the weather’s a bit chilly. They offer mild or very spicy (I pick spicy most of the time) which I think also adds to the flavor. Wouldn’t eat there during the prime lunch hours as the place is small and tables are indeed a bit cramped, but if you visit early then it’s not too bad. Not as healthy as the subway nearby but definitely more tasty.
Great food, great service. Can’t really go wrong, our regular work lunch spot.
My favourite dishes include:
- Nasi Padang
- Terasi Noodle
Good for a take away or eat in, do be aware though there is limited seating.
Decided to go and try their food after my friend gave us the 20% off voucher. We drove all the way from the city to Albany.
Tried the fried rice and stir fried.
Fried rice is 4/10 (but after I asked the Indonesian soy sauce, the taste was much better). So for the fried rice, I would give 5.5/10.
Stir fried was disappointing. 3/10
I would expect Indonesian taste but truly we felt disappointed.
Dont feel like going back again.
Love the food here. The staffs are nice and very caring.
Highly recommend Klaten (number 22) and Terasi noodle (number 8), they are yummy. Their ice lemon tea is fabulous ! The staffs are nice because as soon as they see you finish your ice tea drink, they will refill it automatically. That’s great. Much better than any takeaway shop I have ever known.
We’re big foodies, no matter how small the place.
And this place is small, but friendly. However, based on what we ate, I wouldn’t go back. My wife ate the noodles and I ate the beef rendang, and it was poorly presented and very average. I love my beef rendang, and I think it’s a bit of a crime to not give it love and care.
I was headed to my favourite place (which is at Shri Mahkota) but that was too far and I wanted to try out this place. Let’s just say this: If you’re in the mood for a $10 dish, it may be fine. But I was hungry and keen to like this place, but the food was just average.
It’s not bad, but it’s not a place I’d go back to. Having said that, there are folks from the nearby technology companies that seem to be regulars here, so I’d say go check it out for yourself.
Really nice food at a good price. Have been there 3 times. Their seafood wardani and chilli prawns are beautiful. Will go there again. They seem to do mainly takeaways and have a few tables inside. Excellent food quality. Wish they had a restaurant in Browns Bay but I guess with the high rentals there you wouldn’t be able to have a great $10 lunch.
Went for lunch and ordered the Nasi Goreng and a Vege Curry dish. The serving sizes were good and the quality was acceptable. The place was a bit cramped and there was some metal wire (the type from a pot scrubber) in the curry which wasn’t the best surprise. Overall it was OK.
This little place is pretty good, I really love Indonesian style food, especially their satay as it tastes quite different to the Malay style satay.
Its pity that there aren’t many Indonesian restaurants in Auckland so i was glad to know that there’s one in albany so close from home! I love the beef rendang and oxtail soup… both full of flavour and yummy. Good food… and good value for money..
I went there for lunch with my sister. The food was great and healthy! And such great value!
